Obaseki’s Victory, Referendum For Continuity, Good Governance -PDP Chieftain

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Henry Duke Tenebe says the victory of governor Godwin Obaseki at the just concluded poll was a referendum for continuity of good governance in Edo State.

He made the assertion on Tuesday in Benin while reacting to the outcome of the election in the state.

The PDP chieftain pointed out that the just concluded governorship election has put an end to godfatherism and has also proven to those who believe that they can always undermine the collective will of the people to have a rethink as power they say, belong to the people.

Tenebe who congratulated Obaseki at his victory at the polls, said the governor (Obaseki) and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, deserved re-election following their developmental strides which have become a benchmark in the nation’s politics.

He equally thanked Edo electorates for the confidence they reposed in the PDP candidates in the election, stressing their support as evidently shown in the voting pattern which saw the governor scoring the required spread across the local government areas in the state as a watershed

“l am delighted at the large crowd of enthusiastic voters who defied all forms of intimidation, inducement and bullying deployed by the opposition on election day and gave their mandate to Gov Obaseki and the PDP.

“By this act alone, the voice of the people resonated loudly across the nook and cranny of Edo State. It was indeed a sweet victory, and a political referendum which will remain in the heart of Edolite for many years to come”, he said.

Tenebe also commended the deputy governor of the state, Hon philip Shaibu for his strength, and courage in mobilising support for his principal in Edo North, noting that by his actions and comportment, Hon Shaibu has proven to be a trusted and highly dependable person.

He further commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his fatherly role ensuring that the election was free, fair and credible just as he lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) and the security agencies for their neutrality.

He assured Edo people that Gov Obaseki would not depart from his administration’s focus on transforming the state into an economic hub where opportunities are bound for generations yet unborn.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.

Yemisi Edun, Managing Director and Chief Executive of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), said the initiative reflects a deliberate approach to inclusive growth.
