Okpebholo Prioritises Security, Workers Welfare, Says Idahosa

Inaugurates 1000 capacity council hall in Ovia North East LGA

The deputy governor of Edo State, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has said that the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration would prioritise the welfare of workers, including those at the local government areas as well as ensure security of lives and property in the state.

The deputy governor made this statement in Okada, the administrative headquarters of Ovia North-East Local Government Council of the state, during the inauguration of a 1000 capacity council hall, staff, and security vehicles in the council area on Monday.

Idahosa commended the quality of leadership being provided in the council area by the chairman, Hon. Igbinake Omoruyi.

According to a statement by Friday Aghedo, the Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor, Idahosa noted that coming up with quality projects within four months in office shows that the council boss was committed to providing good governance in Ovia North-East.

“We knew the kind of person we were giving leadership to in Ovia North-East as well as knowing he was going to work in line with the vision of this administration.

“We were certain he was going to give good leadership. We are seeing the dividends of democracy in Ovia North-East,” he stated.

Idahosa said that Omoruyi did not only make him proud, but had also not failed his people as the son of the soil.

As for the council hall, Idahosa aid it would be beneficial to the council workers’ welfare just like the staff bus.

Similarly, the deputy governor said that the security vehicles would further boost security in the area.

In his address, the Chairman of the Council, Omoruyi, commended Okpebholo for giving him the free hand to carry out his official duties, which has culminated in the inauguration of these projects.

On his part, Comrade Igbinoba Omoregbe Chairman, Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) also praised Okpebholo and his deputy for providing the conducive atmosphere that was already yielding dividends of democracy for the people.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.
