Olanipekun: Truth About Bayelsa Government Will Soon Be Revealed

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) has said that the truth about the Bayelsa Supreme Court judgment review would soon be revealed.

Olanipekun, who spoke on Sunday in his country home Ikere-Ekiti during a thanksgiving service commemorating 1,600 capacity church auditorium he donated to Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, also said he did no wrong seeking review of the judgement earlier delivered against the APC.

He added that the Church auditorium he built and donated was part of his contributions to the spiritual growth of his people and for the development of tourism potential of the state.

Olanipekun advised the church against being antagonistic neither should they act cowardly in handling of the vexatious matter.

“I could see the leadership of the church are not speaking up loud enough. Though, I believe we need prayers to overcome insurgency and terrorism. I know the Christians must be cautious about their actions, but they should not act cowardly.”

“But I know that no matter how strong the evil forces are, they won’t overrun the power of God, because the power of God is not run through the power of man”.

Olanipekun who head legal team for Lyon appeared alongside Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) and Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), to seek the review, which the supreme Court had dismissed and awarded N30m fine against each of the litigants’ lawyers to be paid directly to the People’s Democratic Party.

Independent quoted Olanipekun as saying, “I have never regretted any of my actions since I started my legal practice, because I always abide by the ethics of the job.

“The truth about the matter will be revealed soon, but I have the conviction that I have done no wrong, because this is a profession I love so much.

“I saw legal profession as a ministry. I am convinced and knew that what we did was within the best tradition in law, I can tell anyone about this. But I will speak about the whole thing at the appropriate time, I won’t say more than that now”, he said.

The supreme Court had disqualified the APC candidate on the basis that his deputy, Chief Degi Biobarakuma-Eremionye forged his academic certificates and the court subsequently declared the candidate of the PDP, Chief Duoye Diri, winner of the poll and was sworn- in as the Governor.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.
