Ondo Guber: Victory Is Sure For APC, Sanwoolu Boasts

Published

on

Lagos State Governor and Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for Ondo State Governorship Election, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, said the ruling party’s victory in the October 10 poll would be a landslide victory.

Sanwoolu said this because the party’s flag bearer, Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, enjoys the endorsement of the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the blessings of the entire party structure, from the national to the state level.

He spoke with newsmen yesterday at the party’s national Secretariat in Abuja after the inauguration of the 104-member National Campaign Council for the Ondo State governorship election by Governor Mai Mala Buni, the Chairman Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee.

According to Sanwoolu, “The endorsement was not only his (Asiwaju Tinubu) endorsement but a collective endorsement. In this endorsement you saw Senator Borofice, you have seen our brother, Olusola Oke, you see meetings where Kekemeke was in attendance, you see meetings where Dr. Abraham was in attendance.

“After the party they all came together even before our choice of the National Council. In Ondo State, they have resolved their problem themselves and all of them said we are supporting the candidacy of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu; so it is a unified thing.”

The campaign council chairman then said the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and it’s candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, are on wild goose chase, advising them not to waste their time and energy as the people of the state have resolved to go for a progressive government.

Inaugurating the campaign council, the Chairman of the party, Governor Mai Mala Buni, said “I am happy to state that the chairman and members of the council were carefully selected based on their personal records of hard work, proven integrity and commitment to the ideals of our dear party.”

The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB), has decried the low turnout at a capacity building exercise for teachers and stakeholders in the state.

The training exercise is being organised in collaboration between the board and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

Inaugurating the exercise on Tuesday in Bauchi, SUBEB Chairman, Adamu Mohammed, said about 130 head-teachers; principals, planning and statistics officers were expected to attend the three-day training programme.

“I’m not happy to see the number of you around now. Ordinarily, you are not more than 70 now. I don’t know exactly what happened. Is it that you are not interested or what?

“Unfortunately; you are not ready for this training. Out of the130 participants, see the number of you present here.

“This is very discouraging. I’m not happy with this number and I don’t think I’m going to pay allowances for 130 participants. I will not, call me whichever name but I’m embarrassed,” he said.

He, however, commended the participants present and instructors, calling for more support in future endeavours.

He said that such exercise was paramount at the basic level of education – a starting point where one could either have a good education system or a bad one.

Prof. Lawan Abdulhamid, a training facilitator, said the training aimed to build teachers’ confidence and competence in using technology.

Abdulamid is an official of the WITS School of Education, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

He urged the Nigerian government to develop a control mechanisms on application of the Artificial Intelligence (AI), to check excesses and abuse, particularly in the education sector.

The don also warned teachers and other educators to be wary of the AI, and encouraged them to develop lesson notes/plans, to guard against generating wrong information capable of jeopardising the essence of sourcing materials for teaching.
