Ovia North East Chair, Ogbewe, Presents One Year Scorecard

Hon. Collins Osamede Ogbewe, the Chairman, Ovia North East Local Government Council of Edo State has given a one year scorecard of his administration, spaning across the 13 wards in infrastructure development.

In a statement made available to INFO DAILY by Valentine Osunbor, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman said, owing to his background, Ogbewe believes that education is the badrock of development of any society, hence he had made frantic efforts to put schools in the local government area in good shape.

Consequently, the Chairman has built a block of six class room primary school in Osasimwinoba community and replicated the same thing in Igbekuhe community with the construction of a Block of six classroom with offices and toilets near completion at Osaro Primary School, all in Uhiere Ward 7.

The CPS added that Ogbewe also renovated a Block of three classroom and office at Owan Model Primary School in Owan community; Oba Eradiawua Secondary School in Obareren Community, among others, in the Ward all in one year.

The Chairman has also provided solar street lights to 13 primary school at the ward headquarters and the local government secretariat.

On electricity, Osunbor said his principal in the last one year has provided 500 KVA transformer to Okada Community in Ward 1; 500 KVA transformer in Utese community in Ward 3; 500 KVA transformer to Ekiadolor communities in Ward 4; 500 KVA transformer to Izakagbo Community in Ward 5;;500 KVA Transformer in Oluku Community; 500 KVA transformer to Isihor- Osarobomwen Community all in Ward 6; 500 KVA transformer to Igbekue community in Ward 7; 500 KVA Transformer to Obagie community; 500 KVA transformer to Ogheghe Community, among others.

On healthcare, the CPS said the Chairman has commenced the construction of healthcare centre in Ago-Ekpanu community, and empowered over five hundred (500) youths in the Local Government Area through series of training and seminar, and also partnered Edo Jobs to train over 200 youths in various trade.

He added that the Chairman has also partnered Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources to train over 1000 Youths in the Local Government Area on the use of Liquify Pressure Gas (LPG), and provided financial support to various police division to boost security in the local government area.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.

Yemisi Edun, Managing Director and Chief Executive of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), said the initiative reflects a deliberate approach to inclusive growth.
