Panic as unknown disease killed fifteen people in Benue state Nigeria, According to BBC Hausa report says.
Nigerian health experts are undergoing search on the out break of the unknown disease allegedly led to the death of at least fifteen people.
Info Daily Correspondent who monitored the reports on BBC Hausa reports that Health expert in Nigeria are currently undertaking an investigation to identity the type of the disease in the state.
Result of the finding from the health laboratory shows that the strange disease has no connection with Lassa Fever, although, the report indicates that more than hundred people infected with the disease, which the symptoms shows swelling of legs and the entire body.
The Nigerian Minister of Health, Dr. Usagie Ehanire who spoke with BBC Correspondent on the out break of the disease says though reports say fifteen persons have lost their lives, but the number cannot be ascertained.
“In regards to the disease in Benue, the headline of one of the papers picks up fourteen or fifteen people who have lost their lives, but no result of dead recorded so far. Already the contingent of health emergency response has arrived the scene of the disease, and they are trying to ascertain the level of the outbreak.
“It is suspected that people have eaten some kind of fishes that were caught from a river that some people have poisoned with chemicals, and the people ate the fish they caught from such river and this is dangerous”, he said.
The Minister added “the Nigerian Port health service is in fully alert, in our airports and they are on surveillance and investigation to check and identify sick passengers. But up to this moment there is no one who discovered with the coronavirus disease”, he concluded.
