The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as ignorance for the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Col. David Imuse (Rtd.), to have apportioned blame on the state governor for insecurity in the state and the call for his (Obaseki’s) resignation.
Col. Imuse (Rtd) had in a statement called for the immediate resignation of governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for failure to protect the lives of the people in the state he took an oath to protect.
The APC Caretaker Committee Chairman also said the resignation becomes necessary as he (Obaseki) appears to have run out of ideas about how to govern the state, and “has shown gross disregard for the rule of law and his personal interest is clashing with his official interest.”

However, in a swift reaction to Imuse’s call for resignation, Chris Nehikhare, PDP State Publicity Secretary, in a statement made available to Info Daily said Federal Government under the leadership of the APC is solely responsible and has full control of security across the country and not the Governor nor the PDP.
Nehikhare noted that for Imuse and the APC to have “the guts to raise the issue of insecurity shows their ignorance and an apparent worrying condition of selective amnesia.”
The statement reads in part, “It must be noted that the Federal Government under the leadership of the APC is solely responsible and has full control of security across the country, including the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the army and all others. That Imuse and Edo APC would do an about turn and place the responsibility for security on the laps of Governor Obaseki alone show their mischief and crass ignorance.”

According to the PDP Scribe, the APC is clearly still reeling from the pains inflicted on them in their recent defeat at the poll, just as he added that “the the party has resorted to a “wild goose chase to oust the governor even as they continue to run from pillar to post to undo the will of Edo people.”
“The APC is clearly still reeling from the disgraceful outing in the last governorship election in Edo State. They are looking for all other avenues to overturn the will of Edo people, who rejected them outrightly at the polls and embraced the Governor and his policies by handing him a landslide victory and a second term mandate,” he added.
On the allegation by Imuse that Governor Obaseki secretly obtained a N25 billion naira loan without Edo people’s knowledge, Nehikhare described the claim as false, adding that the state House of Assembly approved the loan.

He said, “Imuse alleged that Governor Obaseki secretely obtained a N25 billion loan without the knowledge of the Edo people. This is incorrect. The N25 billion loan Imuse talked about was a developmental loan secured by the state government to develop and revitalize critical infrastructures. The Edo State House of Assembly, which represents the Edo people also approved the loan months ago. To Imuse and his ilk, a loan approved by a state House of Assembly was secretely secured. This is irresponsible and garrulous talk!”
