PHOTOS: Joy, Eulogies As DSP Danfulani Bows Out Of Service

It was a moment of joy and eulogies at Aduwawa Divisional Police Headquarters, Benin, on Friday as men and women of the division; family members (immediate and extended) gathered to celebrate Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tonghan Victoria Danfulani as she takes a bow out of active service after 35 years of a meritorious service.
Men and women of the division, family members who spoke at the send off party described DSP Danfulani (retired) as a meticulous police officer worthy of emulation.
In his short speech, the Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent of Police (SP) Martins Ukadike said Danfulani was a committed police officer who handles her duty with the needed dedication.
Describing DSP Danfulani (rtd.) as an officer who was always open to learning and never angry when scolded, SP Ukadike said: “When you see her in uniform, you will want to join the police force. She always looks very neat and gallant, worthy of emulation. So I want to implore every officer here to emulate.”

On DSP Danfulani’s commitment to her work, the DPO added: “Danfulani was a committed police officer who never get angry when she is scolded. She will rather take correction and learn from her mistakes. She’s a friend to all; she a police officer you will want to work with.”
Also speaking on the personality of DSP Danfulani (rtd.) Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdulazeez Babatunde described her as an officer who wants the growth of her junior ones.
On his part, one her younger brothers, Chief Ben Bowei described his elder sister as a meticulous and hardworking sister, adding “she is a sister and a mother to me and many of us, I am in no way close to her in age.”
He continued: “As a police officer, she has brought growth and development to her village. The hamlet of those days, with her contributions, has become a big village or town.”

Responding in a very emotional manner, DSP Danfulani (rtd.) thanked God and those who stood by her ɗuring her sojourn in the Nigeria Police Force, saying many she started with fell by the way side.
She said in an emotional manner, “Through the trials; the challenges; the hazards, my unwavering faith guided me. While many I enlisted with took many parts, God’s grace found me and his mercy held me steadfast, allowing me to attain the honourable rank of DSP.
“As the Bible says, “the race is not to swift… (Eccles. 9:11).
“My journey was not by my power neither was it by my strength nor might, but by the Lord’s grace ensuring I was never consumed.” (Sic).
During her service years, DSP Danfulani (rtd.) served as a correspondent clerk; radio set operator; station writer; charge room officer; divisional crime officer to O/C family unit and administrative officer.

She also served under the African Union peace keeping mission in Mogadishu, Somalia, where she became the public information officer in a contingent of 160 personnel.
Though she joined the police force with Secondary school Certificate, DSP Danfulani (rtd), was able to bag a degree in Public Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State.
She also attended Police Detective College, Enugu where she secured a certificate in antifraud course 17/92.
Hungered for knowledge, DSP Danfulani (rtd.) proceeded to Mogadishu to under go a training in strategic communications master class.

Transfer: Premier League Clubs Scramble For Dele-Bashiru
Lazio midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is a subject of interest from three Premier League clubs, according to Sky Sports.
Lazio reportedly rejected offers from Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth for the Nigeria international in January.

La Biancolesti are bracing for more interest in Dele-Bashiru ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports.
The 24-year-old has two years left on his contract with the Serie A club.

He has been a regular feature for Lazio this season.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.
DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.
A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.
“This will include major corporations such as MTN Group and MultiChoice Group. It is morally indefensible for businesses to thrive in an environment where the lives of Nigerians are protected, while Nigerians are subjected to fear and violence elsewhere.
“This contradiction will no longer be tolerated,” the statement said.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs
First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.
The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.
At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.
Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.

Yemisi Edun, Managing Director and Chief Executive of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), said the initiative reflects a deliberate approach to inclusive growth.
“Inclusive growth requires access to capital and the right conditions for businesses to deploy that capital effectively.
“Women-led enterprises are critical to economic activity, yet they face structural barriers.
This intervention aims to help close that gap by providing financing that supports job creation, business expansion, and long-term sustainability for women entrepreneurs.”
“Access to affordable finance remains a major constraint for women entrepreneurs,” said Nnenna Jacob-Ogogo, Group Head, SheVentures and Impact Segments at First City Monument Bank (FCMB).

“By removing the cost barrier and offering quick, flexible funding, this zero-interest loan is designed to safeguard existing jobs, enable businesses to invest in growth initiatives, and foster resilience in challenging economic conditions.”
Women-owned businesses account for a significant share of Nigeria’s small and medium-sized enterprises but continue to face high borrowing costs and limited access to credit.
Through these efforts, SheVentures tackles persistent financing gaps facing women-led businesses, combining targeted funding with broader support to empower women entrepreneurs, encourage business innovation, and enhance their ability to compete on a national scale.
