A 25-year-old man was, Friday, July 3, arraigned before an Oredo Magistrates’Court, Benin, over alleged forgery and theft.
The defendant is a salesman of Global fast food property of Mrs Otasowie.
The defendant, James Okoro, is being tried on four court-charge bothering on stealing, forgery and breach of peace.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector David Akhigbe, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between the month of March and June at No 59, Urubi street, off Iyaro , Benin City in the Oredo Magisterial District.
Akhigbe alleged that in March, the defendant did steal the sum of N44, 600 from Global Fast Food Property owned by Mrs. Florence Otasowie.
” Also between April to June in the same place, the defendant did stole N63,800 from same fast food.

” On June 18 at same place, the defendant did forged by altering the writing of N55,000 instead of N35,000 earlier written and handed over to Mrs Otasowie.
” Between Month of April to June in same place, the defendant did conduct himself in a manner to cause breach of peace by refilling one create of Hero beer bottles with water after selling the contents,” Prosecutor said.
Akhigbe said the offence contravened the provision of sections 516 and 390 (9) 467, and 249 of the Criminal Code laws of the defunct Bendel State of 1976, now applicable in Edo.
Okoro, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Oyekpen, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N120,000 with one surety in like sum each, adding that the surety must be responsible.

The magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the case until July 21, for hearing.
