Polytechnic, University Matriculate 110 Students In Bauchi

The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi in affiliation with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) have matriculated 110 new intakes into Degree programmes in the institution.

Speaking during the 2024/2025 matriculation ceremony for the students on Wednesday, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, the Vice Chancellor of ATBU, said students’ matriculation is a cardinal requirement for qualifying any admitted student as a bonafide member of a university, or any tertiary institution.

He reminded the students that ATBU, as a matter of policy, has zero tolerance to all kinds of vices, anti-social behaviors such as cultism, examination mal-practice, sexual harassment, drug abuse, indecent dressing, vandalism and truancy.

Our duty here is not only to give you access to knowledge, but also to help in molding your character so that you become responsible citizens of our nation.

“Those who are too arrogant to conform will be shown the way out because ATBU and Federal Polytechnic share things in common and that is quality
assurance.

“The oath you have taken today is an indication of your readiness to abide
by ATBU laws as well as a promise that you will conduct yourself with decorum during your stay in this institution.

“Let me inform you here that everything has been done possible to ensure
the provision of acceptable standards of educational facilities and welfare.

“You should therefore, give the Polytechnic all the needed support to realise the vision and mission of both the Polytechnic and our University,” he said.

In his opening address, the Rector of the polytechnic, Alh. Sani Usman, congratulated the new intakes for being chosen amongst several others who applied for the admission.

Represented by Comr. Usman Dutse, Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, the Rector urged the students to adhere to every school rules and pay attention to their studies in order to excel and pass-out in flying colours.

Ikpea Of APC Sweeps Edo Central Senatorial Seat By-election [SEE RESULTS]

Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared winner of Saturday, August 16, 2025 by-election for Edo Central Senatorial District of the state.

According to figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the collation centre in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area, Dr. Ikpea scored 105,129 votes, to defeat his closest opponent, Prince Joe Okojie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 15,146 votes.

Edo: APC’s Omosede Igbinedion Wins Ovia Federal Constituency By-election

Barrister Gabriella Omosede Igbinedion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Ovia Federal Constituency By-election.

Omosede polled 77,053 votes in the Saturday’s by-election.

The returning officer, Mr Clement Ighodaro, announced the result in the early hours of Sunday at Iguobazuwa, Ovia South West Local Government Area.

Igbinedion, daughter of the influential Igbinedion family of Okada, swept aside her rivals in what observers described as a one-sided contest.

Her closest challenger, Mr Johnny Aikpitanyi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 3,838 votes, while Dr Sandra Asemota of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored 925 votes.

JUST IN: Emir Of Zuru, General Sani Sami, Is Dead

The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II (rtd), has passed away at the age of 79.

A palace source confirmed to Tribune Online that the one-time military governor of Bauchi State died today (Sunday) in his palace in Zuru.

Born in Zuru, the late monarch joined the Army on 10 December 1962 and attended training courses both in Nigeria and abroad.

The first-class monarch was appointed military governor of Bauchi State after a coup on 31 December 1983 that brought in late General Muhammadu Buhari to power.
