Prominent Oyo APC Chieftain Is Dead

A prominent member of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Alhaji Raufu Salami, is dead.

It was gathered that the APC chieftain who is popularly known as Olowo Adekile died on Thursday.

The deceased is one of the leaders of APC in Ibadan North East local government area in Oyo South Senatorial District.

The senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, expressed shock over Salami’s death.

Alli, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas and made available to DAILY POST on Thursday in Ibadan, said that Salami contributed significantly to the party.

He added that his demise has left a void in the political landscape.

The chairman, Senate committee on Electoral Matters, further commended late Salami’s leadership, dedication and service to the community and the local government area.

The lawmaker prayed that Almighty Allah grant him Al-Jannat Firdaus and his family, the fortitude to bear the loss.

Father Of 12 Found Dead Inside Brothel In Bayelsa

A lifeless body of a man, said to be a father of 12 children has been found in a brothel at Tombia-Amossoma road axis of Yenagoa, Bayelsa.

According to the residents of the area, the deceased is a 40-year-old man from Delta, though his name was not known as at the time of filling the report.

The deceased was said to be suffering from partial stroke, before engaging in a sex rump that led to his unfortunate demise.

They said he was one of the customers of the commercial sex workers, who left home around 8 am on Tuesday to meet a prostitute, but was later found dead in the quarters.

It was gathered that the lifeless body was found naked in the apartment while all the commercial sex workers had deserted the said apartment.

At the time of visiting the scene, people living around the area were trying to get the identity of the deceased to contact the relative to evacuate the corpse for burial.

It was gathered that security operatives had previously raided the brothel and earmarked it as a red-light zone.

The Commander of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Bayelsa State, Mr Tolumobofa Akpoebibo Jonathan, told Nigerian Tribune at the scene that the deceased is a 40-year-old father of 12 from Delta state.

Police spokesperson in Bayelsa, ASP Musa Muhammed, told Nigerian Tribune that he was trying to reach out to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area to get accurate information about what happened while promising to get back on the cause of the incident.

Suspended Edo Lawmaker, Iyamu Breaks Silence, Says All Issues Will Be Resolved

One of the suspended members of the Edo State State House of Assembly, Hon. Bright Iyamu, has urged his constituents and supporters to remain calm and shun any form of violence.

The lawmaker, representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in the House of Assembly was suspended alongside two other lawmakers namely: Hon. Donald Okogbe (PDP Akoko-Edo II) and Adeh Isibor (APC Esan North-East Constituency I) on Monday May 6, 2024, by the Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku.

Reacting, a statement from the office of the lawmaker assured that the “ugly situation will be brought under control.”

“I had no motive to call for the impeachment of the Speaker, nor the intentions to impugn the integrity of the house,” he added.

Recall that the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Agbebaku suspended the three members for allegedly plotting to effect a change of leadership in the house.
