Crisis erupted in the ancient town of Ekosin, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State on Sunday morning over the alleged imposition of a traditional ruler.

It was gathered that some members of a ruling house identified as Nyanbilolu Ruling House stormed strategic parts of the town and started burning tyres.

Residents of the community who witnessed the development revealed that they woke up to the protest over the presentation of the staff of office to Kasali Olagunju as the Akosin of Ekosin by the Osun State Government earlier this week.

Represented by their spokesperson, Kayode Asa, the ruling houses alleged that political office holders of the Ademola Adeleke administration had nocturnally appointed Olagunju as Akosin.

They also accused appointees of the Ademola Adeleke government of reckless and flagrant abuse of office and power, Daily Post reports.

The ruling houses noted that the actions of the political office holders were a sheer disobedience to the rule of law.

They also revealed that Olagunju was not a member of any of the ruling houses in the town but rather an impostor.

The ruling houses, through Asa, demanded, “That the Abere fake presentation of instruments of office to Kasali Olagunju should be withdrawn immediately.

“That the state government should respect the judiciary and allow the ongoing court process to run through as they had earlier promised us.

“That Kasali Olagunju should stop parading himself as Akosin of Ekosin and no privilege should be accorded to him in any form until the determination of the case in court.

“That Kasali Olagunju is not from the Nyanbilolu Ruling House or any other ruling house in Ekosin and should not be made the Akosin as that will lay a bad precedent for future generations.”
