Return To PDP, Bauchi Gov Tells Peter Obi

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, and the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, hosted the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in the Bauchi Government House on Friday.

While welcoming the members of the obedient team, in an interactive session with the journalists, Bala stated that ahead of the 2027 general election, opposition political parties must be united.

This is just as he urged Obi to return to the PDP.

He said, “We have to harmonise our interests in the interest of the people of Nigeria.

“The opposition must come together. This ADC, PDP and even the remaining political parties should come together.

And we don’t even hate the present administration. We wish they would do better, but as I discussed with you, there’s no budget. There is no plan. Everything is about politics from day one.

“And we have to be cautious, not to disparage our people. We have to unite the opposition, our ego and our interests. So that we can present a common front to compete and to make sure that we go to the promised land.”

Mohammed stated that the expectations of Nigerians in the 2027 general election are very high.

He said, “There is a lot of hunger and anger. And we don’t want to cause so many disparaging movements.”

He urged Peter Obi to consider returning to the PDP.

So please come back. That’s where you belong. Don’t go anywhere that is in disarray,” he said.

On his part, Obi said that he was in Bauchi to interact with youths in colleges of health and the Almajiris.

According to him, based on the interactions he has with future leaders, he is satisfied with their potential.

He appreciated Bala for what he described as a wonderful work in the education sector of the state.

Reacting to questions from journalists on Nigeria’s political landscape, Obi said, “Our politics must change. It has to be politics of development, Politics of competence, politics of capacity and compassion, where we care for other people.”

He maintained that he visited Bala on a courtesy call “to talk about the problems of the country.

“How can we solve it together?”

He equally restated that alliances must be made among political parties ahead of the 2027 general election.

He explained that “Alliance is not for power grabbing, but to bring about changes and development.”

According to The PUNCH, Obi, during the visit to the schools, donated N15m to Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and Intisharu Islamic and Quranic Memorisation School in Bauchi.

He donated N10m to Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and N5m to Intisharu Islam Quranic Memorisation School.

While donating at Malikiyya College of Nursing Sciences, he said, “You are very important to this Nigeria, and if there is anything we can do to support what you are doing, we need to do it.

“The nurse is more important than the doctor. The nurse knows the patient, the nurse owns the patient, the nurse is everything.”

2027: Jonathan Will Contest Under PDP, Return To Aso Rock — Jerry Gana

Former Minister of Information and Orientation, Professor Jerry Gana, has disclosed that ex-president Goodluck Jonathan will contest again in 2027.

Gana made this remark while speaking to journalists in Minna, the Niger State capital.

According to him, Jonathan will contest in the next presidential election, as the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According to him, Nigerians had experienced life under two presidents after Jonathan and were now yearning for his return.

In 2015, former President Goodluck Jonathan said his ambition was not worth the blood of Nigerians,” Gana said.

“After him, another President ruled for eight years, and now another has ruled for two years.

“Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear. Nigerians are now asking us to bring back our friend, former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the presidential election in 2027 as PDP candidate, and we should be prepared to vote for him to return as President again,” he added.

How I Survived Kidnap, Assassination Attempt – Rivers Speaker

The Speaker of Rivers House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, said he is thankful to God for surviving a kidnapping and, an assassination attempt in the past years.
Amaewhule made this known during his 52nd birthday thanksgiving service at the All Saints Anglican Church, Eliozu, Obio/Apkor Local Government Area, Rivers State.

I am not just marking another birthday but acknowledging that many people had planned to take his life in the last one year, but God didn’t allow them,” he said.
Recounting how he survived a harrowing experience in 2008, he said that he narrowly escaped death during the incident.

Amaewhule noted that he was abducted by some unidentified gunmen at his residence as he arrived after a Sunday church service.

“Some of you were here in 2008 when a preacher was preaching right here on a Sunday service, on that faithful day, I didn’t know the people who came to kidnap me were also in the service,” he said.

After service, they tactically followed me to my residence, tied up my security guard, and abducted me and took me to a forest where they held me hostage for five days.

“They placed thorns under my feet and inflicted several injuries on my head and body in the process of moving me from one hideout to another within the forest.

They fed me with biscuits throughout the period even as I almost bled to death.”

The speaker, however, expressed gratitude to God for his numerous blessings, guidance, and preservation over the years.

An Activist and politician, High Chief Ben Bowei has been sworn in as Vice Chairman, Ovia South-West Local Government Council of Edo State.

Bowei, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), deputises Hon. Nosakhare Edobor who happens to be the Chairman of the council.

The Vice Chairman, a committed member of the APC in the local government and state, is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the local government council being a former National Treasurer of the most respected youth body in west Africa — Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide.

Bowei, an advocate and promoter of governance, is the founder of Niger Delta Volunteer for Good Governance, said he’s poised in promoting good governance and taking the dividends of democracy to the most interior part of the local government.

Bowei, while appreciating governor Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, for the good work the current administration has been doing in the state, expressed optimism that the current state government would perform beyond expectations.
