Senator Imasuen Empowers Edo South Farmers With Farm Implements

The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Neda Imasuen has appealed to farmers to make good use of implements given to them to enable them to sustain their families, and the nation at large.
Imasuen, who made the appeal at a training organised for his constituent members in Benin City, also urged them not to sell the farm tools given to them.
According to the federal lawmaker, essence of the event was to reduce the price of food in the market.
Imasuen, while adding that the essence of the event was to empower his constituents of being farmers and producers, appealed to them to pay proper attention to the various speakers at the programme.
He also urged them to ensure they make good use of the knowledge they acquire during the training.
“This items we are giving you, some time I was told that when farm implements are giving this way, people go to the market and resell them. I hope that will not be the case here. You are to take the full benefits of what we are providing for you today.
” So, it is my wish and prayers that God goes with you, and helps you with wisdom and understanding to do all that you can do to help us build local government, state and the nation as a whole.
“The programme is very important for me because it is a programme, in my opinion, we use to empower our farmers to do more in what they do in their farms.
“So, we don’t want to do it for one day, doing the programme for two days is to make sure the message gets down to the farmers.
“The programme is also to make sure that all that they need to learn about is given to them.
“I am satisfied and happy for what I have seen, especially, to the participation of the farmers, and their own way of receiving it.

Odi, an agribusiness development consultant, told the farmers to see themselves as important that would feed their families and the nation.

Educating the farmers on how to apply chemicals in their crops, Mr. Lekan Salami, said farming is the only way Nigeria can survive.
He asserted that various chemicals given to them have minimum usage required after adding water to it, before they can use it to spray their crops.
The farm implements given to the farmers included: rain-boots, cutlasses, insecticides, sharping files, hand gloves and hoes.
