Soldiers Kill 11 Bandits In Kaduna LGA, Recover Weapons

Soldiers attached to the troops and Special Forces of the Nigerian Army have killed 11 bandits in a fierce battle in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The troops, according to the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, cleared several camps of the hoodlums across nine communities of Bagoma, Rema, Bugai, Dagara, Sabon Layi, Gagumi, Kakangi, Katakaki and Randagi.

Although silent on when the incident happened, the Commissioner also disclosed that troops recovered weapons which included two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines and 57 rounds of ammunition, as well as six motorcycles belonging to the bandits, were destroyed during the encounter.

He said, “troops and Special Forces of the Nigerian Army have neutralized 11 bandits in a fierce battle which took place during fighting patrols in Birnin Gwari LGA.

“Operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government revealed that the troops advanced to several identified locations, and cleared bandit camps in Bagoma, Rema, Bugai, Dagara, Sabon Layi, Gagumi, Kakangi, Katakaki and Randagi.

“In the course of these operations, the forces made contact with bandits at Kakangi and Katakaki. A fierce gun battle followed, after which the criminals were subdued by the troops’ aggressive firepower. Eleven bandits were confirmed neutralized, as others fled.

“After the battle, the troops exploited the location and recovered two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines and 57 rounds of ammunition. Six motorcycles belonging to the bandits were destroyed during the encounter.”

The Commissioner also quoted the state governor Nasir El-Rufai to have hailed the gallantry of the soldiers as well as “praised the leadership of the Major General TA Lagbaja, General Officer Commanding One Division and Force Commander of the Operation Whirl Punch.”

The Governor lauded the troops for their consistent and spirited efforts, as he urged them to build on the momentum of this notable success,” he added.

A Sharia Court in Kaduna, Kaduna State, has dissolved a two-year-old marriage between a couple, Harira Sanusi and Aliyu Yunusa.

The judge, Malam Salisu Abubakar-Tureta dissolved their marriage following a petition for divorce filed by Harira.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Harira accused Aliyu of calling her parents names and humiliating her.

My Husband Threw Me Out After 17yrs of Marriage —Wife

A housewife, Lawal Modupe, has approached an Upper Area Court sitting at Kubwa, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), seeking the dissolution of her 17-year-old marriage to her husband, Ismaila on the grounds of lack of love and affection.

Modupe told the court that she got married Ismaila according to Islamic laws.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the mother of three stated that her husband sent her out of their matrimonial home on June 17, 2023.
