The presidential candidate of Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the forthcoming election, Prince Adewole Adebayo is expected to chair the 7th Anniversary Lecture/Niger Delta Awards of GbaramatuVoice newspaper, slated for Tuesday, August 30 at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, is expected to deliver the keynote address at the anniversary, while Deputy Governor of Delta State, Kingsley Burutu Otuaro is the chief host.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr. Jacob Abai, Publisher/Chief Executive Officer of the newspaper a copy of which was made available to INFO DAILY electronically.

According to Abai, the 7th anniversary of the Niger Delta newspaper is themed: ‘Oil Politics, Securing National Assets, Dependency and Diversification,’ adding that Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri; his Benue State counterpart, Dr. Samuel Ortom, and Mallam Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited are expected to be special guests of honour.

The Publisher of GbaramatuVoice noted that critical issues as they affect the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large would be discussed at the event.

Abai, further listed in the statement “Dr. Efiong Akwa, Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive Officer,, Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and Mr. Richard Kennedy, Chairman/Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria Limited,” as other eminent personalities expected to grace the event.

“Also expected at the lecture/award giving ceremony include but not limited to; traditional rulers from the Niger Delta; captain of industries within and outside the country; executives of International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in the country; public office holders from the Niger Delta region; leaders of specialized groups in Nigeria, among others.

“The anniversary lecture will centre on critical new research themes as sustainable development goals in the Niger Delta. Its deliberations will address all spectra of analyses including the oil and gas industry.”

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.
