Tinubu’s Rallies, Campaign Timetable Subject To Change – Keyamo

Published

on

The spokesman for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, on Thursday, said that the newly-released schedule of rallies and activities of the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, is a working draft that is subject to changes.

Keyamo said this in a phone chat with our correspondent after he released a revised timetable hours after the original schedule was released.

In the schedule of activities, Tinubu is expected to kick off his inaugural rally in Jos, Plateau State capital on November 15.

The development is coming after the party initially settled for Ilorin, Kwara State capital three weeks ago after a series of postponements following negotiations and disagreement among the party chieftains including governors and party National Working Committee over the exclusion of their nominees from the campaign list.

Recall that the campaign season officially kicked off on September 28 while Tinubu was away in London having his vacation.

While presidential candidates of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party, Peter Obi, among others, have begun their campaign in different regions respectively, their counterpart in the ruling APC prefers to continue with his consultation with stakeholders.

A couple of hours after it went viral on Thursday, the APC campaign council released an amended schedule of activities and timetable.

While the date of the presidential campaign rally, which officially begins in Jos on November 15 remains intact, an arranged dinner with campaign patrons in Abuja was postponed from November 6 to 8.

There will be an interfaith town hall meeting in Abuja on November 9 and another in Calabar three days later.

According to the revised timetable, there will be series of rallies in Delta (19), Imo (21), Adamawa (24), Ogun (26), Enugu (29) and Sokoto (30) respectively.

Between December 4 and 10, the campaign team will embark on international engagement with stakeholders in Diaspora.

When quizzed on why the timetable was amended again, Keyamo told our correspondent that the schedule of events and dates was a working draft, which is still subject to further adjustment.

He said, “They are all subject to change or amendments as we progress due to human nature. Nobody expected the flood, for example. But it came, and all of a sudden, it slows down activities and all that.

“So this is a working draft. At least, we have a draft to work with. My final comment on this is that it is Ceteris Paribus. That is, all things being equal.”

On why the party changed its venue from Ilorin to Jos in the space of three weeks, the minister declined comment.

“I have no further comment on that. The reason for those decisions – we are not going to tell the public,” he said.

Rivers: Fubara Cancelled 10,000 Jobs I Initiated For Youths – Wike Alleges

Published

on

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State cancelling an employment process undertaken by his (Wike’s) administration which engaged 10,000 youths of the state.

Wike made this allegation on Wednesday at Ahoada main Town, during the ‘Renewed Hope Family thank you visit’ to Ahoada East Local Government Area.

He said his administration had employed 10,000 youths into different sectors of the state’s economy, but regretted that Fubara, his successor, sacked the beneficiaries.

He slammed Fubara for claiming the construction of Ahoada-Omoku and Emohua-Kalabari Road, which he said he had made 70 percent payment before handing over, describing the governor as “a bad child”.

When I decided to dualise this Ahoada road, people thought it was impossible. But by the grace of God, today, Ahoada East, Ahoada Town, is coming back to be the city it is supposed to be. When I was a narcissist, I finished phase one of this dualisation.

“Then I flagged off phase two, which would end up in Omoku. The job was given the same day as the one of Emohua to the Kalabari area.

“I gave it to Julius Berger and we signed an agreement for Julius Berger to collect N4 billion every month from our IGR. The total amount of that road, and the one from Emohua to the Kalabari area, was about N80 something billion. So I said, if they collect four billion every month, that would give them 48 billion. That in two years time, they would have completed,” Wike said.
