Troops Eliminate Shekau’s Top Ally, Tahir Baga In Sambisa Forest Troops

The troops of Theatre Command, North East, ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ have successfully killed a top commander of the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, otherwise known as Boko Haram, TAHIR BAGA.

This great feet was achieved following continuation of troops’ major offensive at terrorists enclaves in Sambisa Forest.

Sources revealed that Tahir was neutralized on May 13, 2024 when the troops unleashing the major operation codenamed: Operation Desert Sanity III, moved down terrorists’ enclaves of Shababul Umma, Garin Panel Beater and Lagara Anguwan Gwaigwai right at the heart of the forest.

Intelligence sources and Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region also confirmed the incident to our Correspondent on Tuesday.

It was gathered that, in the course of the offensive, contact was made with the terrorists which led to the defeat of the terrorist top commander as well as some of his lieutenant while several others escaped with gunshots wounds.

“Tahir Baga, was a close Ally to Abubakar Shekau. He was among the first sets who founded the Boko Haram movement in Maiduguri before moving into Sambisa Forest with likes of Mamman Nur, Khalid Albarnawi, Abubakar Shekau, Kaka Ali, Mustapha Chad, Abu Maryam and Abu Krimima.

“Tahir Baga was a revered Imam who was respected among the Sect group. He had on several basis truncated efforts of many fighters and their families to surrender and has also pushed many under aged girls to go on suicide bombing after convincing that they will be granted paradise as everlasting reward.” The source said.

The killing of Tahir Baga, is a major blow to the Boko Haram terrorists groups.

Another source said that “the neutralizing and sacking of terrorist communities, also led to the rescue of 14 persons comprising 4 women and 10 children from the terrorists captivity.

“The troops the firepower of the rampaging troops, fled in different directions, abandoning their weapons and other equipment.

“Among such weapons were a heap of bomb-making materials; 1 RPG 7 tube; Pkm 1X Rpg 7 tube, 1X ak47 rifle, 1 RPG Bomb, 1X RPG 7 Charger quantities of 97X 7.62MM Nato, quantities of 99X7.62 MMX 51MM, quantities 554X7.62 MM X 54 MM, 5, MCs, 2 bicycles, 3 mobile phones 11 magazines, 3 hand grenades 2 bandolier, one starlink WiFi system, 1 lithium inverter batteries of 100 AH, 1 solar inverter of 200 AH, 1 hand held patrol radio among others items were found in the terrorists enclaves.”

A minibus driver complained before a local court in Lusaka, Zambia, that his wife sleeps in leggings to prevent him from making love to her.

Richard Makura, 48, of Kanyama compound was testifying in a case in which his wife, Patricia Mulenga, 40, a business woman sued him for divorce on allegation that he was violent.

According to the Zambian Observer, the two got married in 1996 and have three children.

Patricia told the senior court magistrate, Lewis Mum, sitting with two other magistrates, Abbyshine Michelo and Esther Mulomba at Kanyama Local Court that Richard has been beating her over petty issues since her father in 2004.

She explained that in 2006, he threatened to burn her clothes and was forced to seek refuge at her parents’ home.

She told the court that he once beat her until she fainted.

Patricia stated that in 2015, Richard started working for APG Milling in Mansa but still failed to provide for the family because he only sent home K50 or K100 per month.

She further said that Richard joined her in June 2016 when his contract was terminated but she never saw the benefits he was given.

“When I asked for our children’s school fees, he beat me in public and removed the chitenge material I was wearing.

“I was left in the short skirt I was wearing and in the confusion, he beat a man who wanted to rescue from his hand,” Patricia stated.

In defense, Richard denied being violet but admitted that problem started in 2006 when he had a girlfriend.

He explained that when he came from Mansa, his wife started sleeping in leggings to prevent him from making love to her.

The magistrate, Mumba stated that there was violence in their marriage and since Patricia wanted divorce, the court had no power to continue to live with Richard.

He granted the couple divorce, ordering Richard to compensate Patricia with K6,000 with initial payment of K1,000 followed by monthly installment of K400.

Property acquired together was ordered to be shared equally.

A housewife, LadidiI Abass, has dragged her husband, Shehu Abass, to a Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Garki, Kaduna, Kaduna State, seeking divorce over alleged battery.

Abass who reside at Rigasa, Kaduna, said her husband usually beat her any time they had a misunderstanding.

Accordng to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the last time he did, he was hospitalised for 13 days.

“He usually beats me in front of our children.

“The last time he beat me, I was hospitalized for 13 days,” Ladidi said.

She prayed the court to dissolve their union and grant her custody of their children.

The defendant, Shehu, denied all the allegations.

“I have just started loving my wife. I love her more and more every hour, “

Shehu thus prayed the court to grant him time to resolve their differences.

The judge, Murtal Nasir, after he had heard both parties, ordered the complainant to testify on her allegation on battery.

He then adjourned the case.

A man, Hassan, has dragged his wife, Zainab, before a Grade A Customary Court sitting in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking the dissolution of their nine-year-old wedlock on the account of infidelity by the latter, while also requesting for a DNA test to ascertain the paternity of the only child in their marriage.

Zainab agreed to divorce but maintained that Hassan is their child’s biological father.

Hassan, in his testimony, said, “Zainab and I started dating in 2017.

“We later cohabited, and I never asked her hand in marriage.

“We ran our relationship this way for a few years, and I got fed up with it.

“I told her I was no longer interested in our relationship, and she accused me of using and dumping her.

“She insisted I must rent an apartment for her, set her up in a business, and rent a shop to carry out the business.

“I obliged her request and gave her N400, 000 to settle all that she demanded for.

“We parted ways as agreed, but she back not too long after this to inform me that she was pregnant with my child.

“Although I was sceptical about her claim, I took her back.

“I have been responsible for our child’s upkeep till date, making feeding, clothing, her education and health care a priority.

“My lord, Zainab has extorted so much from me by the reason of her claim that the child is mine.

“I do not want to invest all my love and resources in her, only to find out later that she is not my child.

“I, therefore, pray this honourable court to honour my request of carrying out a DNA test in discerning the paternity of this child.”

The court president, Mrs S.M Akintayo, after she had heard the plaintiff, granted his request.

Akintayo ordered that both the plaintiff and defendant and also the child in question made themselves available on a date agreed by both parties, and the test carried out at the hospital specified by the court and the result handed over to the court.

Akintayo adjourned further hearing on the case until September 25.
