UCL: Thierry Henry Sent Powerful Message To Chelsea forward, Felix, After Defeat To Real Madrid

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has sent a clear message to Chelsea forward, Joao Felix after the Portuguese failed to score a goal in the Blues’ Champions League 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Henry believes Felix needs to score goals for Chelsea because he is being paid a huge amount of money to make a difference.

Felix failed to score as goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio ensured Real Madrid defeated Chelsea in the Champions League last-8 first-leg tie at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Felix was, initially, alone on goal but couldn’t maintain separation from his defender and ended up blowing what could have been an incredible chance for the Blues against Los Blancos.

“You would have liked to think that Joao Felix would have had the composure in the box. I have been in those situations, it is not easy. But what was easy for me is that you need to have the awareness to cut across. That is the first thing that you learn as a center forward,” Henry said on the UEFA Champions League Post-Match Show.

“When you guys (defenders) are chasing and I know that you are chasing, I cut across. Slow, a quick striker, whatever it’s. It will give you the advantage of having a one-v-one or a red card. Then when he goes on his right foot, he dummies one time. Come back. But I have been in that situation and I like to think that I am composed in the box.”

“My job is to bring you to the other side,” Henry said, quoting his former coach Pep Guardiola.

“I will give you a plan, the strengths and weaknesses of a team. My job is to bring you from this box to the other box. After that, it is on you to score. They pay you the big bucks and you have to make a difference.”

Chelsea will now hope to turn the tie around when they host Real Madrid in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge next week.

UCL, EPL: Petr Cech Advises Chelsea On How To Win Trophies

By

Chelsea legend, Petr Cech, has advised his old club on how to win the UEFA Champions League or the English Premier League.

Chelsea are already out of the Premier League title race this season, and they are at risk of missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification for next season because they are currently not in the ninth position on the Premier League table.

Speaking to The Athletic about Chelsea, Cech said that the Blues need to change their philosophy of signing only young players if they want to win the Premier League or Champions League.

According to the former goalkeeper, the Premier League west London club needs to add experienced players to mentor the young players in the squad.

“You have to look at what you want to achieve. You can have young, talented players, and you can win, but it’s very rare that you manage to do that,” he said.

If you want to win every season and compete every season, that does not go together.

You have to change your philosophy. Certain things don’t go together because, in order to win a Champions League or a Premier League… these are really tough competitions, and you have to be consistent.

“You need to have a strong core of the team. And then you can bring young, talented players who will grow faster and then will be held by the experienced players to help navigate them through difficult times when they come.”

Currently, Chelsea have just one player, Tosin Adarabioyo, who is over 28 this season, and the defender has not been playing regularly.
