But, In her reaction to the allegation by her lawyer, the actress took to her Instagram account on Tuesday, May 23, and dismissed the accusation.
She said she refunded the late actor the sum of N150,000 sent to her for a movie role in 2021.
The actress, who shared a screenshot of her bank statement, said, “Sometimes in July 2021, the late Mr Murphy Afolabi reached out to me, requiring my services for a movie production.
“He appealed to me stating that it was a self-funded production that he couldn’t afford my professional fee, but that he would need my moral support.
“I asked how many scenes and duration expected of me on set. He said 10 scenes and that I would spend one day. He offered to ‘fuel my car’ as honorarium, which payment was made on 02 July 2021 for N150,000.

“Unfortunately, on 11 July 2021 shortly before the commencement of the production, I lost my younger brother. I contacted Mr Murphy Afolabi a few days afterwards to request for his bank account details, to send him a refund, as I would be travelling to the United States for my younger brother’s funeral, and to spend time with the rest of my family.
“He insisted I held on to the money while he figured out whether to move the shoot forward or contact me for another one.
“I returned to Lagos end of September 2021 and waited for his call. Mr. Murphy Afolabi contacted me on 08 October 2021 and said he wanted to start a new job soon and needed me for 4 days, playing the lead but for the same amount of N150,000 which he had paid in July.
“I respectfully declined, requested his bank account details, and transferred to his bank account the full refund of N150,000 on the same day, 08 October 2021.”

The singer stated this during an Instagram live session with fans recently.
Slamming those attacking him on social media over his assault on a police officer, Kuti said he was aware of Nigerian celebrities with felony charges, but fans never criticised them the way they did him.

That is the charge I have.

Seun Kuti, popular musician and the youngest son of the Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti has slammed comedian Ayo Makun, a.k.a AY, over his reason for not rejecting his national honour.
Recall that former president Muhammadu Buhari, through the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs on Sunday, listed comedian AY, singer Davido, actor Kunle Afolayan, Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and other celebrities among 337 Nigerians to be conferred with national honours on June 1st 2023.
Reacting to the announcement on Monday, AY, in a tweet, addressed critics who queried him for not rejecting the honorary award by the Federal Government, stating that a national honour is the highest recognition anyone could get.

Explaining why he will not reject the award, AY said, “Those of you shaming or asking me to reject ‘A National Honour’ are clearly missing a vital point. Our country is bigger and more important than any president or political party awarding it. National honour is the highest recognition anyone can get for his or her contributions to nation-building.
”So my allegiance is to a country where I have contributed my own quota, and I am more than happy to be rewarded by the same nation.”
Responding to AY in a post on his Instagram page and story, Seun Kuti described the comedian’s explanation as unnecessary. And taunted the comedian to receive his ‘Buhari’ award and stop explaining.
“Let me reiterate. No be public opinion poll them take dey choose national award na by presidential committee then the president will accept the nomination of certain people. In as much as it’s a national honour, it’s a presidential appointment. Biko, receive your BUHARI award and stop to dey Shalaye.

“This is what I hate about sellouts. Is it that you don’t have a chest, or you can’t do anything with the chest? Resist the URGE to SHALAYE (explain), Don’t try and dress HYPOCRISY as NATIONAL LOYALTY OR PATRIOTISM. With una 2 Homes and 2 Passports,” Seun Kuti said.
