One of the exciting moments for one, perhaps, is getting to see one’s parents aging in sound health particularly in a period science projects life expectancy of the male folk in Nigeria at 62 years. But science projection is not God’s protection.

A man of exemplary life; a man many describe as epitome of humility and Godly character; a man who has made huge impact in his chosen career has proven this projection wrong. God has used his life to prove to man that He (God) is not a man, and no man can take His place in life. He is a man before God’s heart, perhaps.

Pa (Elder) Josiah Osazuwa Obadigie, JP, a veteran journalist, Public Relations manager and Chairman of League of Veteran Journalists in Edo State does not just surpass the rubicon, but with over two decades. He clocks 90 this month.

His children, family members, friends and well wishers could not hide their joy as they went to God, baba’s Creator, in thanksgiving for preserving a father, grandfather, uncle, friend thus far in life. The 90th birthday thanksgiving service for this retired journalist was held in Baptist Church, GRA, and later climaxed with a reception at Edo Baptist Secretariat, TV Road, Benin City.

Until you are told, you can never imagine of his age. Pa Obadigie is 90 but looks very young and and smart. His humility is second to none. Many he had groomed testified of this. It can be also seen in his life even at 90.

Once a journalist, is always a journalist. In spite of Baba’s age, he still write and read. He is retired but not tired as he used the occasion of his 90th birthday celebration to unveil a 233-page book written by him. The book, with 42 chapters is titled ‘My Thoughts on Paper’.

Recounting how he came across Pa Obadigie and how he groomed and taught him in school, General Abbe said despite the age differences and knowing well that Baba was his teacher, Pa Obadigie, due to his humility, answers him with ‘sir’ whenever they have cause to discuss, stressing “his humility is a time embarrassing to me.”

Others who commented on Baba’s personality described him as a devote Christian who is committed to assisting young persons to actualising their ministerial callings.

Some Pastors drawn from the Edo Baptist Conference who were present at the occasion testified of how Pa Obadigie used his position as secretary of Edo Baptist Conference to render assistance to many young men who were willing to go to the school of Seminary but had no the resources. They urged him to be in Christ and continue his good work.
