On April 17, 2023, a Twitter account, Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization (@P_O GrassrootRoomM) claimed that a clergyman, Feyi Daniels was charged to court by the Lagos State Government due to his prophecy regarding Tinubu’s presidency.

Daniels, the founder of iReign Christian Ministry in Ikota, became popular after his controversial prediction about the presidential election.

Daniels also predicted the arrest of President-elect Bola Tinubu on the day of the inauguration, adding that Peter Obi who ranked third in the election, would eventually become President.

“Prophet Feyi Daniels was frivolously charged to court by the Lagos State government because of his prophecy towards Tinubu has been remanded in Kirikiri Prison Lagos State,” the tweet reads.

The tweet has generated more than 3000 retweets and over 5000 likes as of April 18, 2023.

THE CLAIM

THE FINDINGS

Findings by FactCheckHub show that the claim is FALSE.

However, checks by FactCheckHub show that the clergyman was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on allegedly having unlawful sexual intercourse with two young women.

According to a report by Television Continental Nigeria ( TVC news), Daniels, who appeared on Monday at Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail on conditions, including a N20 million bond and two sureties with property in the state.

According to The Punch, the Lagos Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) had ordered Daniels’ arraignment in March for allegedly raping an assistant pastor and another woman.

The case was investigated at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Ikoyi, where two victims provided statements.

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.
