John Aiworo, 38 and a woman he claimed to be his wife, Blessing Ogieva, 25, Friday, April 8, confessed before the Edo State Police Command that they sold their baby of two months and seven days old to one Felicia Imaguomaruomwan at the rate of N300,000, so they can get capital to start business.
According to the suspect’s statement, she bought the baby from them because she was unable to bear a child.
Ogieva disclosed that she the incessant beating by her husband during her pregnancy made Mrs. Imaguomaruomwan to take her to her place with the fear that she would not be beaten to death by her husband.
She said her so-called husband has not paid her pride-price though she already had two children for him before this third one they sold at N300, 000.
The husband, Aiworo, admitted that he has not paid her price hence they co-habit to get the two children.
The husband and wife confessed that one Joy Samuel, aka Mama Jennifer who based in Italy linked them up with the buyer (Felicia).
They further confessed that the initial agreement with the buyer (Felicia) was that after payment of the above amount, Mr. Felicia was going to provide additional money (capital) to Mrs. Ogieva so that she can start a business of her own.
Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said the baby has been taken to Uyiosa Orphanage Home at Oka, Upper Sakponba road, Benin, for care while suspects will soon be charged to court.
