The new Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Phillip Ogbadu says the Command would liaise with vigilantes and local hunters in fighting all sorts of crimes in the state.
He added that the concept of community policing as adopted by the Inspector-General of Police is going to be injected in policing the state, adding that strategic stakeholders are carried along to play security advisory roles in the state.
CP Ogbadu who disclosed this in his maiden media briefing in Benin on Friday, noted that the Command has resolved to hold Town Hall Stakeholders Meeting regularly to review security situations in the state and map out strategies in curbing crime.

He added that, to achieve this, the Command has spoken with the state governor, Mr. Goodwin Obaseki to convene the first Town Hall Meeting.
“Town Hall Stakeholders Meetings have commenced and will be regularly held to review the security situations.
“The concept of Community Policing as adopted by the Inspector-General of Police is being injected in policing the state, strategic stakeholders are carried along to play security advisory roles. Engagement of community members in accordance with Community Policing Philosophy of the IGP.
“Support of the people is critical for effective policing of its community. To bridge the gap created by shortage of manpower the command is liaising with vigilante groups in policing the state,” he said.
While noting that anticrime patrols and raid operations around identified black spots, bush combing patrols are being carried out to curb crime in the state, the CP noted that the Command under his watch of three weeks has visited all security agencies with a view to strengthening synergy among security agencies so as to foster inter agency collaboration.
He noted that the Command under his watch for three weeks has recovered 119 live ammunition, 27 cartridges, and has arrested 26 suspected cultists; 11 suspected kidnappers; 17 suspected armed robbers; 6 suspected murders amongst others.
