Why I Chose To Be Singer Over Producer – Davido

Multiple award-winning artiste and songwriter, David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, has explained the reason behind his choice of being a singer rather than a music producer.

The Timeless crooner in an interview with Forbes on Wednesday mentioned that he had always wanted to be behind the scene while doing his music producing business until he began to notice that he was far better than many of the artistes that come record with him.

He said, “I used to be a producer. I have always wanted to be in the background of things. So, I used to have an older cousin, he was like the musician of the family. I’m the last born of my family. But then I was very good with computers, tech, stuff like that.

“So, when he told me he does music, I quickly went to go and learn how to record music from YouTube. I bought a computer, a programme and everything, so I started learning on YouTube.

“Then I started recording artistes. One of my cousins that always with me every time in the studio, he noticed that if you are an artist and I’m recording you.”

Davido added that anytime he noticed the artiste made a mistake, he mumbled, saying, “Nah, don’t sing it like that, sing it like this. Sing it this way, it will catch their ears more this way.

“So, over time doing that, I was like ‘Yo! I’m better than everybody that I’m recording.

“I was like ‘You know, maybe I should record a song.”

The superstar maintained that the first song he recorded blew up and that led him into the singing journey.

Nigerian Musician Dies In Canada

Popular live music band leader, Akinloye Tofowomo popularly known as Akiin Shuga, has died at the age of 50.

His death was confirmed in a statement released by his family on Monday.

Akiin Shuga died on October 30, 2025, in New Brunswick, Canada.

The statement described the Shuga Band founder as “a revered music icon and custodian of rhythm, culture, and the spirit of performance”.

The family also said details of funeral arrangements will be revealed in due course.

In the meantime, they requested for “privacy and quiet reflection at this deeply difficult time”.

Akiin Shuga leaves behind his wife, children, siblings, and mother.

Jarvis Threatens To Sue Peller Over Money Laundering Allegation

Popular content creator and TikToker, Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, better known as Jarvis, has threatened legal action against her boyfriend, Peller.

Peller, who is also a TikTok star, had in a recent livestream named Jarvis among other TikTokers that laundered money through the platform’s gifting feature.

Reacting to the allegation, Jarvis management, Aiso Entertainment, tagged Peller’s claim as false.

Jarvis management in a statement shared on her social media page, threatened to sue Peller for defamation, noting that “such accusations are an attack on her character and legality, which deserve stringent legal action of this kind”.

“The management alongside her esteemed legal counsel, denies these allegations and we are currently exploring the possibility of initiating a defamation lawsuit against Mr. Peller,” the statement added.
