Woman Disappears With Five-year-old Girl After Tricking Brother

The family of a five-year-old girl, Success Abi, has been thrown into confusion following her disappearance in Abuja.

Her mother, Agnes, said she went missing on March 30 after she (Agnes) left her with her 13-year-old brother to buy something at a shop close to their house in Kpeyegi, along Karu-Karshi Expressway, Abuja.

She said the brother informed her that a woman persuaded him to allow her to buy Success a drink at a shop close to their house.

The distraught mother told our correspondent on Sunday that when the shop owner was interrogated, she said she did not know the woman.

She said, “On March 30, I went to buy something at a shop close to my house. Somebody came to my house and picked Success up in the name of wanting to buy something for her at a shop close to my house.

“The strange woman was standing in front of our house and Success’ brother was in the compound, playing with her. He said the woman told him that she wanted to buy Bobo for her.

“The shop owner said she checked, but she only saw her back. She said she did not bother herself, thinking that it was someone we knew. I have reported the matter at the Jikwoyi Police Station.”

Several calls to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, were not answered.

She had yet to respond to a text message sent to her line on the matter as of the time of filing this report.

Success’ disappearance is happening less than a week after three siblings disappeared from their school, Star Child Heritage Academy, at the Kabusa area of the FCT.

The children, Marvelous, 8; Alex, 5; and Mirabel, 2, have not been found.

The 8-year-old pupil, Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, who was beaten to coma by a teacher in Anambra State has passed away.

Rhe 30-year-old teacher at Landmark School Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government Area of the state, Faith Nwonye, was arrested last weekend.

The State Commissioner for Education, Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, confirmed the sad development on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

“He was a boy…like any other, with hopes and aspirations. He went to school for a better future but met gruesome death at the hands of the people who were supposed to help him achieve his life ambition,” the Commissioner stated.

“A quack teacher in an illegal school bludgeoned him to death. We mourn a life nipped in the bud! We mourn Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo! We mourn and we seek justice!”

Man Arrested For Allegedly Forging Lagos Magistrate’s Stamps, Impersonating Police Officer

Detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lagos State Police Command, have arrested one Charles Chukwudi ‘m’ aged 48 for forgery and impersonation.

The suspect was arrested following discreet investigations into his issuance of fake court documents to unsuspecting members of the public. Found in his possession were forged official stamps of Chief Magistrate Admin, C/M Adeola Olatunbosun – Chief Magistrate Court I Yaba and Magistrate A.B Ajiferuke of Magistrate Court Epe.

Also found in his possession was a fake police identity card and a passport photograph of the suspect in police uniform which investigation revealed he had photoshopped.

Confirming his arrest to newsmen, the spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said investigations had commenced into his fraudulent activities after its discovery by some court officials who in turn alerted the police.

He was arrested within the premises of Tinubu Court, Lagos-island on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He has since been arraigned.

Student Who Lost Father, Scores 331 In UTME, Gets Full Scholarship

In a now viral video, a student identified as Angel Alale, who lost her father, has been awarded a full scholarship.

Education activist and the Chief Executive Officer at Educare, Alex Onyia, shared Alale’s story via his X account on Thursday.

He wrote, “Angel Alale has just been informed of her full scholarship. She has been crying uncontrollably.”

According to him, the news came as a life-changing opportunity for the student who faced the daunting prospect of discontinuing her education after her West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams due to the loss of her father.

Alale’s academic performance, however, set her apart.

She scored 331 in JAMB, which makes her the best in her school,” Onyia revealed.

Moved by Alale’s story, Onyia expressed his admiration and commitment to supporting her educational journey.

Earlier, a young mathematics prodigy, Ugwoezuonu Ogechi Zara, was reportedly awarded a N21 million scholarship after scoring a perfect score of 100% in the primary category of the National Mathematics Competition organised by the Mathematics Association of Nigeria.
