Benin-Auchi Road Multiple Kidnap: Five Victims Freed After Paying Ransom


Five of the victims that were kidnapped on Tuesday, December 22 along the Benin-Auchi road regained their freedom Thursday after their relatives paid various sums as ransom.

Recall that Police had claimed earlier that only three persons were missing in the abduction incident.

It was gathered that the kidnappers placed N5 million ransom on each victim but their family members were allowed to negotiate and beat down the ransom.

While no specific amount was given, a source stated that the victims paid ransom between N3 million and N800,000.

A source who is familiar with the case confirmed that about five persons have been freed after paying different fees as ransom.

“It was a horrifying experience for the victims and their families who worked had to raise the money.

“The victims who are still there might be released soon as their families are said to be working hard to raise the money to enable their people regain their freedom,” he added.

Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Chidi Nwabuzor was not available for comment on the issue.
