Bishop Of Ekiti West, Anglican Communion, Suspended Over Sexual Scandal


Rt. Rev’d Rufus Ajileye Adepoju, the Bishop of Ekiti West Diocese of Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, has been suspended for one year.

He was suspended for having sexual intercourse with a priest under his employment and care.

The suspension letter dated 11 December, 2020, was signed by Most Rev’d Henry Udukuba, Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of all Nigeria.

The letter which was exclusively made available to Info Daily Tuesday, December 15, 2020, it was stated that the suspended Bishop admitted that he had sexual intercourse with wife a priest under him.

Part of the letter

The letter reads in part, “This is sequel to your conduct giving just cause for scandal (sic) and abhorrent sexual behavior with the wife of a priest under your employment and care. These facts were admitted by you in a meeting held in our office on Thursday December 10, 2020.

“By this suspension, you are not to partake in any activity of the Diocese as the Diocesan Bishop for a period of one (1) year effective from the date of this letter.”
