Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed eight personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) attached to the BUA Cement Factory located in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The gunmen also abducted one of the Chinese expatriates, and injured four persons.
An officer of the agency who disclosed this to journalists in Benin on Saturday on the condition of anonymity, said the persons injured were currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

He said: “The suspected kidnappers, armed with sophisticated weapons, ambushed the NSCDC personnel attached to BUA Cement Company, Okpella, Etsako East LGA, Edo State.
“The attackers laid an ambush at the company’s entrance. They opened fire sporadically, engaging NSCDC operatives in a gun duel. Despite the loss of personnel, NSCDC operatives successfully rescued four expatriates.

The officer said that the Edo State Commandant of the agency, Agun Gbenga, had visited the scene of the crime and the hospital where the injured are being treated.
He also disclosed that joint security operations with sister agencies have commenced, combing the surrounding forest in pursuit of the perpetrators.
“As I speak with you, our personnel and other security agencies are combing the bush through which the kidnappers escaped. We are making every effort to ensure that the abducted expatriate is freed unhurt and the perpetrators are brought to justice,” he noted.

Now fewer than 18 passengers of the New Edo Line and Toyota Corolla car were on Friday reported abducted.

An interior designer, identified as Deborah Moses, popularly known as Deb’rah Porsche, has been allegedly murdered in Lagos by her ex-boyfriend, months after she ended their relationship.
The incident, which occurred late Wednesday night, has sparked outrage among family members, neighbors, and rights activists, who are demanding justice for the slain young woman.
According to reports, the suspect, identified simply as Lintex, a native of Otukpo in Benue State, allegedly disguised as a dispatch rider to gain access to the estate where Deborah lived.

When security operatives became suspicious, he reportedly scaled the fence into the compound and proceeded to her apartment.
It was learned that the suspect first attempted to cause an explosion by cutting the cooking gas pipe outside the house. When that plan failed, he allegedly broke into Deborah’s residence and stabbed her multiple times until she died. A relative of the victim said Deborah ended the relationship over a year ago but had been repeatedly threatened by the suspect.
“They have broken up for more than a year now, but this guy refused to move on. He keeps making statements like, ‘If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I don’t marry you, blood will flow,’” the relative said. She added that Deborah, who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and was gradually building her career, had been avoiding strange calls and unwanted advances from the suspect before the tragedy.
