Edo: Cars, Buildings Damaged As Secondary School Students Unleash Terror On Teachers, Security Personnel

Students of Idogbo Secondary School, Idogbo, Benin, in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State have reportedly attacked the school, destroying cars, offices and buildings at the spot.

The incident was said to have occured on Friday 3rd of December, 2021.

In a video that has gone viral, the students seen on rampage, attacking teachers, policemen, destroying cars and setting offices ablaze.

An insider, who does not want his name in print, because he does not have the right to speak to the press, said though, they were shocked at what happened, they were anticipating security problems as it has always been when they are writing exams.

He said, “As our tradition here during the end of every term examinations, we do invite security officers to avoid any break down of law and order. So, the exam was to end 10th of December, days before vacation.

“But, days before the exams started, we were battling with students throwing bangers and other explosives in the compound.

“So, when the exams started on Friday, December 3rd, we invited some policemen and vigilante members in case of any eventuality. So, because we anticipated that there could be disturbance, the first set of policemen came, while we await for other police officers.

“One of the policemen on duty was moving around the school compound, but what happened next is what some of us don’t know. But we saw that the students were chasing the policeman, so, some of his colleagues came to rescue him, that was when the students started throwing stones and other weapons.

“So, when it became uncontrollable, teachers started running for their lives, then the children went on rampage destroying everything on sight. More policemen were called from the police command but they could not control them.

“It when the DSS people were that they shot gun to the air to scare them away. Later the DSS personnel arrested about 45 of the students who were hiding in the bush.They are now at the police command.”

Reacting, the Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, SP Bello Katongs, confirmed the incident, saying some of the students have been arrested.

“49 of the students are in custody for willful damage of government property, but none has been charged to court yet,” the PPRO said.

Indian Court Denies Bail To Nigerian Man Over Drug Charges

A court in India has denied bail to a 44-year-old Nigerian national, Cristian Soporuchukwu, who is currently facing drug trafficking charges in the country.

Cristian Soporuchukwu initially entered India on a business visa but was later arrested over allegations of involvement in the sale of hard drugs.

Reports indicated that after arriving in India, Soporuchukwu travelled through Goa, Delhi, and Mumbai, where he allegedly established links with suspected drug traffickers.

He was accused of purchasing MDMA crystals and distributing them to college students and information technology workers.

According to reports, operatives of the Beguru Police arrested Cristian Soporuchukwu in April 2025 for allegedly selling MDMA crystals around Begur Lake and the AECS Layout Road area.

The New Indian Express reported that the High Court of Karnataka subsequently dismissed the Nigerian’s bail application.

“The anti-narcotics wing seized about 1 kg of MDMA crystals, a pocket weighing machine, 10 zip-lock covers, a mobile phone and a scooter from him,” the report stated.

Justice V. Srishananda, while ruling on the bail application, reportedly held that errors relating to the grounds of arrest could not automatically justify bail in serious narcotics-related offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, NDPS, Act.

The court further noted that Cristian Soporuchukwu had allegedly overstayed his visa in India, according to the report.

Strait Of Hormuz: US Announces Sanctions Against Iran

The United States Treasury has announced sanctions against Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority.

Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, said this in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement extended the threat of sanctions to anyone paying the fees, saying they may be providing support to and receiving services from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, and therefore may be exposed to sanctions risk.

US Launches New Airstrikes On Iran

The United States has launched new airstrikes in southern Iran.

The strike shot down four one-way attack drones that posed a threat around the Strait of Hormuz and then a ground control site.

A US official revealed that American forces struck an Iranian ground control station in Bandar Abbas that was about to launch a fifth drone.
