With a view to seeking God’s intervention in the crisis that has bedeviled the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, the party has consequently declared Friday, February 21 as a day for fasting and prayers for all members of the party and well-wishers in the state.
Factional Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Joseph Osagiede, disclosed this on Thursday, February 20, while briefing newsmen in Benin City.
Osagiede said the recent crisis, bombings and attacks on individuals in the state call for prayers and fasting and that God should put an end to it.
He said, “We are calling for this fasting and prayers in view of the activities that have been taking place in the state in the past few weeks, where we have series of crisis, some forms of bombings and attacks on individuals. We don’t want the continuation.”
He posited that the gobernorship position in the state does not worth the blood of any individual hence the fasting and prayers in order curb the attacks, bombings that have bedeviled the state of recent.
Osagiede noted that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of anarchy, stressing that the attacks, bombings witnessed of recent in the state were needless.
“We believe that the governorship seat or the gobernorship tussle is not worth the blood of anybody. This is why we are calling on all and sundry to join us in this one day fast” he added.
Osagiede continues, “No meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of crisis; no meaningful development can take place where there is anarchy, so we are calling on all lovers of peace, all citizens in Edo State to join us in this fast.”
He said the one day fasting and prayers was to also pray for peace in Nigeria and that all those making the state ungovernable for the governor, God should touch their hearts.
“We are also praying that all those who trying to make Edo State ungovernable for our governor, Godwin Obaseki, should have a change of heart, as there can be no meaningful development in a state where there is anarchy.
“We should thank the Lord for giving us a corrupt-free , articulate and masses-oriented governor whose developmental strides are visible to all and sundry even the trouble-makers”, he said
