A chairmanship aspirant in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon Louis Imhandegbelo has congratulated the governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, over his victory at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, on alleged certificate forgery.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, alongside its governorship candidate in the September 19, 2020, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu had instituted a suit against Obaseki on his University of Ibadan first degree certificate, claiming that the certificate the Governor bears was forged and not authentic.
But ruling on the suit earlier heard by a lower court, (High Court), of which Obaseki was favoured in the judgment, the Appellate Court, Thursday, dismissed the suit for lacking in merit and awarded N250, 000 cost in favour of Mr Obaseki.
Reacting on the judgement, Hon Imhandegbelo, said the victory for Obaseki was anticipated and well-deserved, adding that “Edo must move forward.”
According to the leading chairmanship aspirant in the local government, the movement the management from the well respected UI admitted that Obaseki graduated from their institution and they were the ones that gave him (Obaseki) certificate, the APC ought to have gave up in the case and look for way in joining hands with the Governor in moving the state forward.
“The movement the management of UI admitted before the Honourable Court that His Execellency graduated from their Institution, there was no case anymore. They ought to have backout in the suit and cooperate with Mr. Governor on how to move the state forward, after all, we are all Edolites regardless of party affiliations,” he added.
Hon Imhandegbelo therefore urged Edo people particularly political leaders, regardless of party affiliations, to join hands with Governor Obaseki in moving Edo forward and taking the state to an enviable heights.
He prayed God to guide Obaseki in his desire to deliver the real dividends of democracy in the state.
