How DCP Abba Kyari Bribed Me To Implicate Saraki In Offa Robbery – Suspect

A suspect in the celebrated Offa robbery case, in Kwara State, Ayoade Akinrinbosun, on Wednesday revealed that former Commander, IRT Squad, DCP Abba Kyari, offered him N10m to implicate former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki in the robbery case.

The suspect, who appeared before the trial judge, Justice Alimat Salman, of the Kwara state High Court sitting in Ilorin, also revealed that the suspected prime mastermind of the robbery incident, Michael Adikwe, was allegedly shot dead in his presence at the Abuja Abbatoir police command.

He claimed that the incident forced him to agree to implicate Bukola Saraki in a prepared statement before the press.

Ayoade, one of the five suspects facing trial in the Offa robbery case, led in examination by the defence counsel, Mathias Emeribe, SAN, alleged that Abba Kyari, also promised him visa to any country of his choice if he grants his request to implicate Dr Saraki.

He however, turned down the offer saying “Abba Kyari said I should admit and say that Saraki was the one who asked them to go and rob.

“I told him I won’t do that, that I will rather die for what I didn’t do than to lie against an innocent man,” the suspect added.

He said Abba Kyari asked him to think over the request very well and ordered Hassan and Mashood to return him to the cell different from where others were kept with an instruction that they should stop torturing him.

Ayoade, further alleged that some herdsmen were killed in his presence, just as he was mercilessly tortured and shot in the leg in the bid to force him to implicate Dr Saraki.

The suspect who maintained that Dr Saraki had nothing to do with the alleged robbery case, said “we were like 15 to 20 suspects taken to Abuja, I only know few of them. We were outside and served with meals, but I could not eat due to the torture I went through in their hands in Ilorin, they asked Kunle Ogunleye to feed me.

“They separated five of us, put us in the generator house and the next officer, Hassan Attila, ordered that they should bring the herdsmen.

” They went to bring the five Fulani men and killed them all in my presence,” he alleged.

“I was told that was not a film. He asked me to stretch my legs and shot my right leg. He shot the second leg but when I tried to shift the leg, the bullet hit my tomb,” Ayoade recounted.

The trial judge adjourned the case till February 13th,2023.

At least nine police officers were killed in the bloody robbery incident which claimed more than 30 persons lives.

Actress Paraded By EFCC For Spraying New Naira Notes

An actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, who was earlier arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, is now being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Operatives of the Lagos zonal office of the EFCC commenced an investigation of Omoseyin, a cosmetologist, for allegedly tampering with the new naira notes.

The EFCC on Friday said the offence was contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

The ICPC nabbed the suspect on Wednesday along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following an intelligence report.

The 31-year-old was arrested following the sharing of an online video of her spraying and stepping on the new naira notes at a party.

In the said video, the actress was reportedly seen flaunting wads of the newly redesigned naira notes.

She was subsequently handed over to the EFCC on Thursday for further investigations.

“Items recovered from her at the point of arrest include a Range Rover and iPhone mobile devices. The suspect will be charged to court once investigations have been concluded,” the EFCC said.

ICPC Secures Conviction Of Director, Firm Over N13m Contract Fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has secured the conviction of Mr Ojoko Robinson, a director with Rojoke CNE Services Limited, and the company for contract fraud to the tune of N13, 710, 252.44.

According to a statement on Friday by ICPC spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, the anti-corruption agency had filed a seven-count charge against Robinson and the company before Hon. Justice N. O. Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Asaba Judicial Division, on allegations bordering on forgery.

ICPC in suit No. FHC/ASB/3C/2022 informed the court of how the defendants used forged documents in bidding and securing two World Bank contracts, contravening Section 1(2) (c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, CAP M17, LFN 2004.

Having listened to both augments, the trial judge found the defendants guilty on all counts, as the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

In handing down his judgment, Justice Dimgba ruled that the defendants should refund 25 per cent of the benefits derived from the contracts to the World Bank through the Asaba office of the ICPC.

The trial Judge further ordered the 1st defendant, who is an Information Technology expert, to teach Information Communication Technology (ICT) at the Delta State ICT Hub, Asaba for two years at his own expense. The 1st defendant is to work out a programme with the management of the ICT Hub within two weeks from the date of the judgment and file a notice of compliance with the registrar of the court.

The judge also ruled that the 1st defendant, having been sent for training on integrity by the World Bank, is to deliver regular talks on integrity to final-year students in three secondary schools (two in Asaba and one in his hometown) and file progress reports every three months with the registrar of the court.

JUST IN: Two Ex-SARS Officers Bag Death Sentence For Murder

A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has convicted and sentenced to death by hanging, two former members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad for extra-judicial killing.

Recall that five members of the SARS team, ASP Samuel Chigbu, Shedrack Ibibo, Magus Awuri, Ogoligo, and Olisa Emeka were standing trial for killing Michael Akor and Michael Igwe, while in their custody for allegedly stealing recharge cards in Oyigbo, Oyigbo Local Government Area in 2015.

But ASP Samuel Chigbu and Ogoligo died in custody at the correctional centre in Port Harcourt, while Shedrack Ibibo, Magus Awuri, and Olisa Emeka continued with the trial.

The trial judge, Justice M.O Opara, in her judgement found Shedrack Ibibo and Magus Awuri guilty of conspiracy to murder, while Olisa Emeka was acquitted.

Speaking to newsmen after the judgment, the state prosecution council expressed happiness, saying justice has been served.

She said, “The court found out that they actually were guilty of murdering the two deceased persons.

“The court discharged and acquitted Olisa Emeka based on the findings of the court, because the prosecution did not prove his case concerning the last person.

“From the judgement, justice has been served to the family of the deceased and that makes me happy.

“It will serve as a deterrent hopefully to other police officers and also give some sort of closure to the families of the deceased persons.”

The mother to one of those murdered, Kathrine Akoro also expressed happiness over the judgment, saying the policemen would now experience a taste of their own medicine.

She said, “They killed my son, carried our property in 2011. My son said I should forgive them, let them go and bring those things they took.

“I said if you are carrying all those property, bring my son, I will be okay. I thank God He has fought for me. I am happy.

“They said that place is good for anybody that killed innocent souls, sending them by force to the grave. They have already tested it. The remaining one here today, they have tested it.”
