How My Mom’s Last Words Made Me Who I Am – Comedian, AY

Popular comedian, Ayo Makun, aka AY, has revealed how his late mother’s last advice to him shaped his life.
The filmmaker made this known while appearing as a guest on the latest episode of the Nancy Isime Show.
He reflected on his last meeting with his late mother wher she urged him to be responsible and take care of his younger siblings.
The comedian said he saw himself and his siblings, including renowned event planner Lanre Makun and celebrity fashion designer Yomi “Casual” Makun, through school after their parents passed away.

“I came home to ask for money that I needed for school, and the money wasn’t available. And then, we had lost my dad. So, she [my mum] was seeing me off, she was practically walking me on the street and encouraging me. She said, ‘You know Yomi is looking up to you, Lanre is looking up to you. Your younger ones are looking up to you. Don’t go and do anything funny, don’t be a part of any cult.’
“But the money dem never give me o wey I find come o but dem dey encourage me. ‘I know that it’s difficult, but then, just know that your younger ones are looking up to you. Don’t go and do anything stupid. God will do it at the right time.’
“Do you know how touching it will be getting all that messages from your mum, and then you get a call while in school that you’ve lost your mum?

“So, all of that moulded me like, okay, this is going to make me live a certain way of life. That was what gave me the boost to work extra hard to see myself through school, see my younger ones through school.
“It was her message. Her message was mor like, ‘Your younger ones are looking up to you.’ That message was what gave me the foundation of everything that makes me stand out today.”

Why I Can’t Quit Music – Erigga

Nigerian rapper Erhiga Agarivbie, popularly known as Erigga, has revealed that he can’t quit music, stressing that he is doing it for passion and not for financial gains.
In an interview with Hip TV, Erigga noted that every year, some of his colleagues leave the music industry due to various circumstances.
However, he said he can’t quit because music is his life.

The rapper emphasised that his passion for music supersedes the financial and social benefits.
“Every year, people leave music for real-life issues. But I can’t stop. Music is life. It’s what keeps me going. Take the business and everything out of it, it’s more of a passion. I can’t disappoint my fans,” Erigga said.

Tiwa Savage Reacts To Allegation Of Sabotaging Female Colleagues

Afrobeats singer, Tiwa Savage has denied allegations of sabotaging other female artists in the music industry.
She challenged those accusing her of sabotaging her colleagues to mention their sources and come forward with evidence.
Recall that a few years ago Kenyan singer, Victoria Kimani, accused Tiwa Savage of indirectly blocking her from performing at several shows.

Reacting in a recent episode of the Offair Show, Tiwa Savage explained that she was being wrongly accused of sabotaging the chances of other female artistes to get bookings, claiming that show promoters could be lying to other artists using her name.
“If you’ve heard from anybody that I tried to block your bag, mention names. Maybe the promoters are lying and using me, maybe they don’t want to book three, four girls. So, they claim I am the one blocking others,” Savage said.

Nigerians Don’t Give Me Enough Accolades – Tiwa Savage

Afrobeats singer, Tiwa Savage has said that Nigerians and the country’s music industry don’t give her enough accolades for her significant contributions.
Savage is one of the most-awarded female artists in Africa and regarded by many as the “Queen of Afrobeats”, but the ‘Malo’ crooner said she deserves more accolades than she is currently getting.
