Ize-Iyamu Denies Promising Association N200m During Electioneering

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, governoship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19, 2020 election in Edo State has denied allegation by one Adams Ehigiamusoe, who claimed to be president of Professional Drivers on Wheel that he (Ize-Iyamu) promised his association N200m during the campaign but refused to fulfill.
Mr Ehigiamusoe had reported also accused Ize-Iyamu of manipulating the ongoing congresses in the state for his (Ize-Iyamu) personal benefit.
But Ize-Iyamu, in a statement made available to INFO DAILY said he never made such promise to Ehigiamusoe and his association or any similar association, individual or stakeholders.
The statement signed by Mr. John Mayaki on behalf of Ize-Iyamu noted that if such promise was made as claimed by Ehigiamusoe, it would have been in the media space for everyone to see, stressing that his campaign was well covered by the media.
The statement reads in part, “My engagements with the transport unions in Edo State during the 2020 election campaign were subjects of sufficient media coverage – similar to meetings held with other representative bodies of stakeholders in the state.
“If any promise was made, it would have been reported and long claimed, not a year after when some persons are understandably attempting to ingratiate themselves with the ruling party because the burden of opposition proves too great for them to bear.
“At no point before, during, or after the campaign did I meet with Mr. Adams Ehigiamusoe, whether in person or proxy, to offer such outlandish promise.”
Speaking on the allegation that he has been manipulating APC congresses in the state for his personal benefit, Ize-Iyamu said, “furthermore, the party hierarchy at the national and state level is responsible for conducting congresses across the country. My only involvement is playing my role as a registered member of the party as outlined in the constitution guiding participation.
“I have neither the intention nor desire to manipulate the process. To what end?”
He, therefore, advised Mr. Ehigiamusoe and others still carrying the grudge of aftermath of the 2020 election to forget about such and move to commiting themselves in strengthening the APC in the state.
