UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya and his arch-rival, Robert Whittaker, clash for the second time at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on Sunday morning.

Adesanya constantly attacked the lead leg of Whittaker. Straight left dropped Whittaker but he popped back up. Adesanya very comfortable and very calm out there. In full control through 1.

The round began with Adesanya attacking the legs while Whittaker started carefully.

Adesanya scored an early knockdown but Whittaker gets up quickly.

Whittaker attempted two takedowns which was well defended.

First round goes to Adesanya.

Robert Whittaker got a chance at revenge on Saturday night as he tries to win back the middleweight championship from Israel Adesanya.

The clash between the two best middleweights in the UFC is the main event for UFC 271 from Houston’s Toyota Center.

The fight is Adesanya’s fourth title defence after wins against Yoel Romero, Paolo Costa and Marvin Vettori.

Adesanya emerged victorious in their first fight at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia in 2019 to claim the middleweight title and he is confident of retaining the belt against a much improved Whittaker.

Adesanya scored a thunderous second-round knockout of Whittaker in Melbourne, Australia to claim the title in October 2019 to cap an amazing run in just his seventh fight with the promotion.

Whittaker rebounded with three straight victories to earn a second shot against Adesanya after his brief stay atop the division. Adesanya is 3-1 since their first meeting with the lone defeat coming in a failed attempt to earn a second title at light heavyweight against Jan Blachowicz.

AFCON: Uganda Coach Lists Three Things His Team Must Do Against Nigeria

Uganda head coach Paul Put has outlined three key areas his side must focus on to secure victory against Nigeria when both teams clash in Tuesday’s Africa Cup of Nations tie.

Put’s side must claim all three points against the Super Eagles or risk an early exit from the competition. The Cranes have just one point in Group C after their opening two matches.
A win against Nigeria could see Uganda qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.

However, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday, Put said that for Uganda to overcome Eric Chelle’s side, they must “concentrate be very prepared and win their duels” against Nigeria.

We have to go for it [win against Nigeria] and we will do it,” Put said.

“Nigerians play at a high level in Europe, so we have to be very concentrated, very prepared and win our duels, which is one of the strong points of Nigeria.”

AFCON 2025: Lookman Scores Winner As Super Eagles Start Campaign With 2–1 Victory Over Tanzania

Ademola Lookman scored what proved to be the decisive goal as Nigeria beat Tanzania 2-1 in their opening game at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles came into the match as heavy favourites to win and dominated the opening exchanges.

After coming close a few times, the three-time champions took the lead through Semi Ajayi.
