Orbih, who called on Edo people to embrace the PDP in the forthcoming election for job employment and provision of social amenities, lamented that public schools and hospitals have been abandoned by the present administration hence are in pitiable state.
“Today, state of our schools in the state is one that one cannot be proud of. Here in Afuze, the promises made to the good people of Afuze by Godwin Obaseki during his campaign tour have become mere promises. He has neglected the College of Physical Education. Our hospitals are worst than mere consulting clinic”, he said.
Speaking on accountability in governance, the PDP chairman urged Obeseki to immediately investigate and prosecute those behind “the fraud of award and execution of multi-billion naira Edo Central Hospital.”

“They spent billions of our public funds to build that hospital. More than Three years after that hospital was commissioned by president of this country, it is still under lock and key. Those behind the award and execution of the hospital contract must be prosecuted.
“Let me also say this, we must not play politics with public institutions. One would have expected by now that hospital and our other public institutions should be working perfectly, but what do we have, nothing.”

According to him, the trainees were people that have little knowledge of electrical installation and they would be trained on solar photovoltaic system installation and maintenance.
He added that they would also be trained on how to install inverters at home, offices, streetlights and others.
“Because of the high rate of unemployment, the senator wants to make them self-reliants so as for them to be able to sustain themselves.

“There are impressive starter packs as tool kits that have been bought by the Senator and they can be used for not only solar installations, but for electrical and any other installations.
“This will enable them to put what they have learned into practice and become self-reliant and employers of labour,”he said.
Also, Mr Mohammed Gwaza, another programme Coordinator, said that the mandate was to empower the next generation with the knowledge and skills needed to harness the abundant energy of the sun.

He explained that solar power is not just about photovoltaic panels and inverters, it represents a pathway to sustainable development, economic growth and environmental stewardship.
Gwaza urged the beneficiaries to listen attentively and make good use of the training as well as the kits so as to be financially emancipated.
One of the beneficiaries, Tijani Tilde from Toro Local Government Area, expressed his gratitude to God for being selected as one of the beneficiaries of the training.
“If we can get people or our representatives that can perform the way this man is performing, I believe before the end of this tenure, there would be more progress and tranquility in the country.
“When you talk of poverty, people say that Northeast is the region where poverty is more pronounced but I think with this kind of programmes, this perception would be discarded,” he said.
Also, Abdulahi Garba, another beneficiary from Bauchi Local Government, said that the training was a life changing one that provided an opportunity for the youth to become self-sustaining and financially stable.
He urged other fellow participants to be focused, make good use of whatever they learned and make effective use of the kits that would be given by not selling them off.

Soyinka said he hopes that Obi does not vie for the presidency in the 2027 election.
He said, “I hope for the sake of the nation that he doesn’t express interest in the next election because for me as a leader, if there was any proof that he was unfit to lead that country, it’s in the conduct which he encouraged among his followers.
“I know for a fact that he was in control of those forces,” he added.

The Nobel prize winner added that dishonest political leaders are encouraging the “divisive actions of the group.”
He said “one of these days, they would turn on them and teach them a lesson”.
Soyinka said, “It has to do with education. I didn’t read all these insults from Obidients but of course, some links were sent to me, especially when facts were being manufactured.

“I know that there is a relay mechanism, which is triggered into action by those who control what we call the trolls of the internet, and so my disgust and contempt.
“I just went about my business, you know, because nobody, anybody on this earth who thinks they can stop me telling the truth as I see it needs to have his or her head examined. It’s as elementary as that.
“But it is depressing to see those who wanted to be political leaders encouraging that kind of action, that kind of attitude in the youth.

“And my mind went to the expression: ‘They don’t know what they’re doing’. Those who sow the wind will reap the whirlwind.
“One of these days, they would be astonished, they would turn on them and teach them a lesson.
“And so, my attitude was very blasé but it is for me a sad phenomenon, especially for those who want to lead a multi-textured (society) — different religions, different ethnic groups, different worldviews — who actually want to preside over such a group as one.
“It means that they have already declared themselves incompetent to lead such an entity.”
