Rice Farmers Credit Obaseki’s Govt For Increase In Rice Production

Warrake rice farmers in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State have given credit to Governor Godwin Obaseki for the increase in rice production in 2019.
The Coordinator of Warrake rice farms, Mr Suleiman Ibrahim, gave this credit on Wednesday during the Edo State PDP campaign rally in Warrake Ward 11, Owan East Local Government Area of the State.
He commended the State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for providing the enabling environment for agriculture to thrive during the first tenure of his administration.
Suleiman, recalled how the Governor cleared 500 hectares for farming which provided jobs for the youths and women.

He said, “The Governor had cleared 500 hectares for Warrake rice farmers last year. Each farmer got four hectares. All the rice were produced were conveyed in trailer trucks.
“If there is anybody that has impacted our lives, it is Obaseki. We intend to move more than 15 trailers of rice outside.
“We took four trucks each from these Communities to Anambra State.
“By the grace of God, if there are still rains, we will harvest more next year”, he said.
Addressing PDP faithful and supporters at the rally, Governor Godwin Obaseki, assured the people to expect more dividend of democracy from his Government.

He promised to construct Warrake-Agbede road and urged the voters in the area to re-elect him in Government by voting for the PDP and promised not to depose the confidence the confidence reposed in him.
Two PDP leaders from Warrake, Major-General Friday Airende (Rted) and Captain Afekhai Abubakar (Rted), drew the attention of the Governor of challenges facing the Local Government Area and vowed to vote PDP and defend their votes.
Airende particularly sought the intervention of the incumbent Governor and the PDP Candidate for the election, Mr. Godwin Obaseki on the power problem that had ravaged economic activities in some parts of the wards.

According to him, five Wards in these Local Government had been thrown into darkness since 2008 since the power sector was privatised by the federal Government.
Earlier in hi remark, the State deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu and his wife, Mrs Mariam Shaibu, urged the electorate not to be scared of war mongers and intimidation by enemies of progress.
They urged eligible voters in the locality to come out en masse and exercise their franchise, assuring that adequate security would be provided for the September 19, Governorship election.
Mrs Mariam Shaibu thereafter Commissioned the reconstructed Local Government Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Aforbakhere – Warrake on behalf of the State Governor.
At the royal palace of the Ivbiora, the Enogie of Ivbiodaubi Kingdom, Ogie Sanufu Elabor, pledged the support of Owan East Local Government Council to the incumbent Governor and thanked him for improving their welfare.

The Governor promised to allocated more resources to rural areas during his second term if elected.

Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has congratulated Nigerians on the nation’s 65th independence anniversary, urging citizens to see the celebration as both a symbol of freedom and a call to duty.
An independence message sogned by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor described October 1 as a reminder of the courage, sacrifices, and vision of Nigeria’s founding fathers who laid the foundation for a united and prosperous nation.
He noted that despite the challenges the country has faced over the decades, Nigerians have continued to show resilience, creativity, determination, and qualities, he said, must be harnessed to build a stronger nation.

“Independence anniversary is not only a celebration of our freedom as a people, but also a call to duty. It is a reminder that the task of building a greater Nigeria lies with all of us.

He commended Edo people for their steadfast support for Governor Monday Okpebholo’s vision of inclusive growth and pledged the administration’s continued commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens through people-centered policies and programmes.
While praying for God’s blessings for the country, he urged Nigerians to reflect on the journey so far and renew their dedication to patriotism, integrity, and service to humanity.

DSS Arraigns Sowore Over Anti-Tinubu Post

The Federal Government is set to arraign human rights activist Omoyele Sowore on a five-count charge for allegedly posting false statements about President Bola Tinubu intended to cause a breakdown of law and order, court papers show.
Sowore was sighted at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday ahead of the arraignment.
The suit dated 16th September,2025, was lodged after Sowore allegedly refused to delete the controversial posts about the President.
The Sahara Reporters publisher was accused of using his official X handle to make the post, “This criminal @ official PBAT Actually went to Brazil to state that there is no more corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!”

The alleged offending post, said to be contrary to Section 24(2) (b) of the Cybercrimes Prohibition and Prevention Act 2024, was said to have been made on August 25 within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.
The charges were brought on behalf of the DSS and the Federal Government by M.B. Abubakar, Director of Public Prosecutions at the Federal Ministry of Justice, alongside four other counsel to the DSS –M.E. Ernest, U.B. Bulla, Dr. C.S. Eze, and E.G. Orubor.
Social media companies X Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc. are listed as co-defendants.
Confirming the legal action in a Facebook post last week, Sowore wrote, “The State Security Service, alias @OfficialDSSNG today filed a 5-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against ‘X’ (formerly Twitter Facebook, and myself. They claimed that because I called Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu a criminal, I have somehow committed a set of ‘novel’ offences they invented and spread across five counts.

“It’s hard to believe there’s anyone sensible left in these offices that should be making Nigeria work. Regardless, I will be present whenever this case is assigned for trial. #RevolutionNow.”
Recall that the human rights activist and African Action Congress candidate in the 2023 election vowed not to delete the controversial tweet, despite a request from the DSS to X demanding its removal.
Restating his stance, Sowore wrote, “This morning, X (formerly Twitter) officially contacted me about the despicable threat letter they received from the lawless DSS over my Tweet on Tinubu. One option I will NOT be taking is deleting that Tweet. Thank you, @X.”

Lagos Opens Portal For Teaching Job Applications

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board has opened its official application portal for teaching positions across the state.
In a statement signed on Monday by the Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, the board said the recruitment exercise, approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, targets qualified candidates willing to contribute to the delivery of quality education in Lagos State.
The statement partly read, “This is a unique opportunity for NCE holders, B.A (Ed), B.Sc (Ed), B.Ed, HND+PGDE, BA+PGDE, and B.Sc+PGDE graduates to build a career in teaching and contribute meaningfully to qualitative service delivery in the State.”

According to the commission, applicants are required to submit applications strictly online via https://subebjobs.lagosstate.gov.ng.
The statement warned that physical submissions would not be entertained and stressed that the board has not authorised anyone to collect money for the exercise, which is completely free.
It stated that the documents for application include, O’ Level Certificate (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB), Degree Certificate or NCE Certificate, and NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate, as applicable.

The board also noted that notifications or statements of results issued beyond two years would not be accepted.
“LASUBEB has not engaged or authorised any individual or group to collect money for this exercise. The application is absolutely free.
“Closing Date: The portal will close on 14th October, 2025,” the statement concluded.
