…I Joined Politics To Correct The Errors – Adebayo

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo has berated the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the People Democratic Party, PDP, saying “they ruined the politics of Nigeria.”

He added that the two major parties did not just ruined politics of the country but “ruined the economy of the country; destroyed the rule of law,” and “fostered disunity in the country.”

The Presidential Candidate who made these assertions during an exclusive interview, noted that because “conscience is dead in both parties” hence nothing indicate to both parties that “the country is dying within their grips.”

He added: “In every way imaginable; they ruined the politics of Nigeria, they destroyed the rule of law; they’ve torn the moral fabric of the country. They have actually ruined the economy; they’ve fostered disunity in the country. They ruined institutions that society relies upon to be a bridge between the past and the modern world.

“So, there is no facet that you can point to; education, they made it worse than it was, and they are attacking the foundation of education with what they are doing with the Academic Staff Union of Universities. It is not a mere industrial dispute. They are trying to say that Nigeria is an anti-intellectual society.”

He continued: “Everything is dead in them; conscience is dead, moral is dead, shame is dead, self-awareness is dead, hearing is dead, seeing is dead. So, when they see underdevelopment, they are not able to understand or recognise it.

“There is nothing around the APC or the PDP that can indicate to them that the country is dying within their grips. Even a blind person can know something dangerous by touching it; a deaf person can see a trailer truck speeding towards him and dodge it, but these two political parties are dead in every sense. They can’t see; they can’t touch; they can’t hear; they can’t feel.”

When asked why he did not joined the two major parties where he can easily realised his aspiration, Prince Adebayo said he joined politics to correct errors in the system.

He noted: “I came into politics to correct the errors, ills and betrayal of the Nigerian people by those two political parties you mentioned.

“There is no way I can ever join them even if I am bound in my hands and feet and dragged to the place; it is impossible.”

“How can anybody with a functioning brain say that? Do you think you’re speaking to fools?

“You come to people and say you will do only one term, any politician who says that must be sent to a psychiatric home because the person must have some mental problem,” Soludo said.

This is coming a month after Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State called for a single-term tenure of six years.

The former Governor of Anambra State said four years is enough for any serious and sincere leader to make an impact.

He said, “One term is enough to establish that good governance is possible, and if they can impact negatively on us for just two years, why won’t someone achieve a lot in four years?

“It’s also to respect the gentleman’s agreement of zoning, which has been a stabilising factor even though it’s not in our constitution.

“I don’t need a day more than four years. I will show the direction of good governance. In two years, there has been maximum damage.

“Two years can change it in a good direction. People want to get up and see a president who cares and shows compassion.”
