Tragedy As Entertainment Industry Loses Another Star

The Nigerian gospel film industry is in mourning following the death of gospel actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, popularly known as Flora for her role in the acclaimed movie series “Abattoir.”
Flora reportedly passed away on February 4, 2025, after a car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in December.
Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, son of Mike Bamiloye, founder of the Mount Zion Faith Drama Ministry, confirmed her death in a post on X.com on Wednesday.
Joshua wrote, “It’s been a few quiet days for me here. I am still struggling to process the passing of Toluwalope—a fellow drama minister and a light in this world. It’s heartbreaking and difficult to understand, but even in our pain, we continue to trust Him. It was a short run but with a lasting impact. My heart goes out to her family. I pray the Lord Himself will comfort them beyond what words can express.”

Flora’s colleagues in the movie industry have also begun to pay tribute.
Fellow actor Oluwaseun Adejumobi recalled his time working with her in a post on Instagram. Adejumobi wrote, “Aburo mi, Toluwalope, you fought a good fight and lived to impact. You were always willing to serve. I have read through your messages again and again—you would always say, ‘Egbon, e pe mi fun location’ (My brother, please invite me for a movie shoot).
“Just last November, we were on a movie set together. You were full of life! You wanted to do more! I said I would call you for another production, and you were even ready before the invitation.”

He continued, “While you were recovering in the hospital, you were still full of life and assured us that you would soon give your big testimony of how God rescued you and helped you survive this accident!
“But you left us with questions in our hearts. Still, God is God, and He is a just God! We celebrate the life you lived and the impact you made! This is a painful exit. This is a shock! We take solace in the fact that you have gone to be with your Maker. Goodnight, Sister Tolu. Goodnight, Iya Ibeji. Goodnight, Flora.”

Nigerian Musician Dies In Canada

Popular live music band leader, Akinloye Tofowomo popularly known as Akiin Shuga, has died at the age of 50.
His death was confirmed in a statement released by his family on Monday.
Akiin Shuga died on October 30, 2025, in New Brunswick, Canada.

The statement described the Shuga Band founder as “a revered music icon and custodian of rhythm, culture, and the spirit of performance”.
The family also said details of funeral arrangements will be revealed in due course.
In the meantime, they requested for “privacy and quiet reflection at this deeply difficult time”.
Akiin Shuga leaves behind his wife, children, siblings, and mother.

Jarvis Threatens To Sue Peller Over Money Laundering Allegation

Popular content creator and TikToker, Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, better known as Jarvis, has threatened legal action against her boyfriend, Peller.
Peller, who is also a TikTok star, had in a recent livestream named Jarvis among other TikTokers that laundered money through the platform’s gifting feature.
Reacting to the allegation, Jarvis management, Aiso Entertainment, tagged Peller’s claim as false.

Jarvis management in a statement shared on her social media page, threatened to sue Peller for defamation, noting that “such accusations are an attack on her character and legality, which deserve stringent legal action of this kind”.
“The management alongside her esteemed legal counsel, denies these allegations and we are currently exploring the possibility of initiating a defamation lawsuit against Mr. Peller,” the statement added.

A popular Kannywood actor, Mato Na Mato, also known as Malam Nata’ala, has reportedly passed away after a protracted illness.
Malam Nata’ala, a native of Potiskum in Yobe State, is known for prominent role as almajiri school teacher in a popular Arewa24 Hausa drama series, Dadin Kowa’.
