An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court has remanded twins, and a friend for the alleged gang rape of a girlfriend and sending her nude photograph to social media.
The suspects are Olabode Kehinde, Olabode Taye and Bakare Yusuf. Others are reportedly at large.
They were arraigned on Friday for unlawful carnal knowledge, indecent assault, breach of peace, damage of reputation and conspiracy against the victim, Rukayat Adeyemo.
The prosecutor, Inspector Temitope Fatoba told the court that the trio committed the crime sometime in March 2021 at about 7 pm at Oke-Abuja area, Iragbiji, Osun State.
The offence committed contravened and is punishable under Sections 516, 358, 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. Il laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
The charge sheet read that the suspects “with intent to cause annoyance, insult, injury, intimidation, enmity or needless anxiety to one Adeyemo Rukayat did intentionally post on a social media, nude photographs of the girl after being sexually assaulted, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, ETC) Act, 2015.”
The trio pleaded not guilty to the charge against them as their counsel, Najite Okobe applied for their bail orally on the most liberal terms.
The presiding magistrate, A.O Daramola ordered the accused to be remanded in Ilesha Correctional Center till August 16, 2021, and transfer the case to Iragbiji Magisterial District.
