Voters at Isuofia Ward 13, polling unit 002 have protested against the malfunctioning of INEC card reader deployed to the unit.
As about 11:30am, only 8 voters had been accredited and cast their ballots out of the over 700 voters at the unit.
The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Soludo was yet to vote because of the non-working machine.
Meanwhile, at Isuofia polling unit 001, voting was reported to have commenced at about 9:21am but at about 10:30 am only about 15 voters have cast their ballots.
It was observed that residents came out in their numbers to exercise their franchise but INEC machines were either not working at all or working slowly.
At Isuofia polling unit 005, voters equally lament that since INEC officials started by 9:12 am only 20 voters were able to cast their ballots as of 11:00 am.
A visually-impaired old man who spoke to newsmen expressed dissatisfaction that despite INEC promises for being ready for this election what is happening at the polling unit, unfortunately, is to the contrary.
The man who gave his name as Mr Udoka Okafor, said, “I have been here since 9:30 am but I have not been able to cast my vote. The INEC voting machine couldn’t read my fingerprint but I must exercise my franchise.”
Osun 2022: No One Should Contest Against Oyetola, APC Leaders Declare
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ede South/Ede North/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State have warned that no aspirant from federal Constituency should contest against the incumbent, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the forthcoming primary of the party.
This decision was made known by Chairman of the elders, Gbadebo Ajao at a press conference on Tuesday at Ido-Osun.
The party leaders at the press conference disclosed that any party member from the federal Constituency who contests with the governor would be rejected by the party and they would not have their support in any form whatsoever.
The elders stated that their decision to endorse the Governor as the sole candidate for the 2022 gubernatorial election was arrived at after wide consultations across the the federal constituency.
Recall that the APC had slated March, Saturday 5, 2022, for its gubernatorial primary election in Osun State and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also fixed July 16, 2022 for the Osun Gubernatorial election.
Some members of the party, especially The Osun Progressives (TOP) have been agitating that the candidate of the party for the polls be selected from the Osun West senatorial zone as was clamoured in 2018 so as to ensure fairness since individuals from both the Osun Central and East had served two terms in office as governor.
When the APC ticket went to the incumbent who comes from the Osun Central senatorial zone, many political heavyweights within the Osun APC, like the former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti decamped from the party to another political party in order to realise their ambitions but only came back to the party after election victory went the other way.
This move has not gone down well with the pro-Oyetola/IleriOluwa faction of the party whose argument has been that the decision to select a candidate that will be the APC flagbearer should be based on competence and not zonal consideration.
Notwithstanding, many aspirants from the Osun West zone have started to indicate interest in presenting themselves for the Osun top job.
BREAKING: APC Splits As Faction Attacks Buhari, Sacks Buni, Names Names Chairman
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has run into fresh murky waters over the sack of Mai Mala Buni.
The Yobe Governor is Chairman, APC Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CECPC)
On Monday, a unit within the party, Progressive Youth Movement, announced Buni’s replacement.
They named Mustapha Audu as National Caretaker Committee Chairman with immediate effect.
Audu said a National Reconciliation Committee will be formed to reconcile aggrieved members before the February 26, 2021 convention.
He further announced a zoning formula for Positions in the new National Working Committee (NWC).
In a reaction, John Akpan Udoedehe, APC National Secretary dismissed the “felonious activities of the purported group.”
The scribe’s statement said they are unknown to the party, its structure or as a registered support group and therefore non-existent.
“However laughable, the criminal attempt of the purported group to usurp the leadership of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC now bothers on treasonable felony.
“Relevant security bodies must now check and address their unscrupulous activities. The attention the purported group seeks will not be given to them by the party.
“We can only advise that the general public completely disregards them. They are not registered members of the APC and are being used by opposition elements and fifth columnists to cause confusion.
“As widely reported, the successful meeting between the APC leadership, Progressive Governors’ Forum and the President produced February 2022 as the timeframe for the National Convention”, Udoedehe noted.
DAILY POST confirmed that the APC National Secretariat has been under heavy security in recent weeks after intelligence of a planned forceful takeover.
Trial Of Ex-President Jonathan’s Aide, In Alleged N3bn Fraud Stalled By Acute Diabetes Ailment
The trial of former Director of Finance in the defunct President Goodluck Jonathan’s Campaign Organization, Dr Ngozi Olejeme, in an alleged N3bn fraud was on Monday in Abuja stalled due to an acute diabetes ailment suffered by the defendant.
Justice Maryam Hassan Aliyu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) shifted the trial to December 6 following a passionate plea by her counsel, Mr Paul Erokoro SAN to that effect.
When the trial was to commence, Erokoro told the Judge that doctors to Mrs Olejeme have called her to report immediately to the hospital as she has fainting spells.
The senior lawyer recalled that the defendant has been diabetic and hypertensive for 30 years and has had four major surgeries in the United States of America and South Africa.
He further hinted to the court that she recently suffered heart failure and COVID-19 and is still in the recovery process.
Moved by the plight of the defendant and due to no objection to request for adjournment, Justice Aliyu fixed December 6 for resumption of the trial.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC had on October 21 arraigned Mrs Olejeme on a nine-count charge, in which she was accused of abusing her office, receiving a bribe, awarding contracts without due process, among others.
Mrs Olejeme who was a former Chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) was on October 22 admitted bailing by the Judge after spending 24 hours in the custody of the EFCC on the order of the court.
Justice Aliyu adopted the conditions attached to the administrative bail earlier granted Olejeme by the prosecuting agency, EFCC in 2017 to admit her to bail.
The conditions are that the defendant produces two Deputy Directors in government employment to stand as her sureties.
In one of the counts, Mrs Olejeme was alleged to have “dishonestly received the sum of N22,200,000.00” from a contractor with NSITF into her personal account No. 32327505058110 at GT Bank.
Mrs Olejeme was also accused of receiving $48,485,127.00, which was dollars equivalent to some funds received from contractors as kickback
