Why I Was Absent At Davido’s Miami White Wedding —Cubana Chief Priest

Celebrity barman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has explained that long-standing U.S. visa issues prevented him from attending singer Davido’s white wedding in Miami, Florida.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Okechukwu said he woke up with “mixed feelings,” describing his joy for the couple alongside the disappointment of missing the event.
Sharing a throwback video from Davido’s traditional wedding in Lagos in 2024, he wrote: “Woke up this morning with mixed feelings. I’m happy, and I’m still sad at the same time. Sometimes, God has a way of making you understand that you are powerless regardless of all you may think you have.”

Addressing criticism over his absence, the nightlife entrepreneur said it gave him “multiple reasons and proofs to apply again” for a U.S. visa.
He also appealed directly to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, saying: “#usinnigeria do it for me this time. You can clearly see how disappointed and hurt the world is to see me absent at my best friend’s wedding… Well, delay is never denial, CP is still hopeful.”
Despite not being there in person, Okechukwu said his wife and family attended to represent him. “The largest part of me, which is my family, my beautiful, elegant, expensive, eloquent and sophisticated wife #_deangels, is there to share in this luxury blissful experience. So I’m there in body and spirit,” he said, while wishing Davido and his wife Chioma “an amazing wedlock.”

Earlier in January, Cubana Chief Priest disclosed on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds that errors made on his first U.S. visa application, filled out by someone else when he was younger, had persisted in the immigration system, repeatedly leading to denials.
“Some mistakes were coming up during interviews… Anytime I came, it kept popping up,” he explained, adding that Davido often tells him about life in America, an experience he still hopes to enjoy soon

“When I understood that people in Nigeria tend to broke shame celebrities, I had to make a decision if I want to let that have power over me. Because if you don’t deal with that, it will have exceeding power over you.
“If you are not comfortable with the fact that some fans can broke shame you if they see you driving a car they consider below your level, then you are going to continue adjusting to their expectations. And that is how you go broke. You go broke trying to adjust to people’s expectations.
“One of the things that Nigerians are concerned about is their perceptions. And statistically, we are a country where most people don’t have money. It took me time to mentally prepare myself to accept being broke shamed. All our celebrities who were flying private jets 20 years ago are no longer affluent,” he expressed.
