Yoruba Nation Agitator Dies As 27 Others Appear In Court

A member of the Yoruba Nation agitators, Adejumo Lateef, has died in custody, while 27 others were arraigned at Court 3 of the Oyo State High Court, Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday.

Officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service informed the court of Lateef’s death when the suspects were brought for arraignment.

The deceased was the 18th defendant in a case between the Oyo State Government and the accused persons, who were operating under the aegis of Yoruba Nation agitators.

The PUNCH reports that the suspects are on trial for invading the Government Secretariat at Agodi, Ibadan, on April 13, 2024, to declare the sovereign Republic of Yoruba Nation.

The case, with suit number I/51c/2024, was presided over by Justice K. B. Olawoyin.

The defendants on trial include Adeyemo Peter, Adeyemo Joseph, Amos Ogundeji, Ayanwale Rofiat, Olalere Mathew, and Ismaila Peter, among others.

The suspects were charged with five counts, including conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful assembly, treasonable felony, and treason.

The case is being prosecuted by the State Government’s team, led by the Director of Public Prosecution, S. O. Adeoye. According to the charge sheet, the offence is contrary to and punishable under, Section 37 (2) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

When the case was brought before the court, the arraignment could not proceed because the majority of the defendants did not have legal representation.

Adebola Ogungbe represented the 3rd, 4th, 9th, and 12th defendants, while Toluwase Ogundeji represented the 15th defendant. However, two lawyers, Yomi Ogunlola and S. A. Sanmi, who were present in court, volunteered to represent all other unrepresented defendants.

The 6th, 23rd, and 24th defendants informed the court that they would contact their families to engage lawyers to represent them.

In his ruling, Justice Olawoyin adjourned the case to 6th, 8th, and 13th November for arraignment and hearing.

Oba Of Benin Declares Two-week Fasting, Prayer For Edo

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has called on Edo indigenes and residents of the state to embark on a two-week fasting and prayer to ward off evil from the land.

The monarch made this known in a statement issued by the Obamedo of Benin, Efosa Igbinomwanhia on Monday.

The revered traditional ruler said the fasting would commence from September 15 to September 28 and urged all Benin sons and daughters at home and abroad to fast and pray during the period.

The statement reads, “His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, uses this medium to inform the general public that from 15 September, 2025 to 28th September, 2025, all sons and daughters of Benin Kingdom and, by extension indigenes and non-indigenes living in Edo State, to embark on two weeks fasting and prayer.

“This is in line with our age-long tradition that before the commencement of the yearly new yam, it is important that we fast and pray tp God Almighty and the royal ancestors for bountiful harvest and to shield us away from sudden death and for peace and tranquillity in our individual homes, families, state and country at large.

“All Benin sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora are to fast and pray during this period.

“The two-week fasting period is from 6 am to 6 pm daily. The Omo N’Oba prays to God Almighty to grant us peace and happiness as we all embark on this fasting and prayer.”

Shock As Odumeje Predicts Own Mysterious Death

Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has once again stirred controversy with a dramatic prophecy concerning his own death.

In a now-viral clip from a recent church service cited by on Monday, the Onitsha-based cleric claimed that his time on earth is coming to an end — but when he dies, no one will ever find his body.

Declaring himself the “strongest spiritual man in the world after TB Joshua,” Odumeje said his mission is not about living a long life, but about fulfilling a divine assignment. “One has completed his mission and returned home; now it’s just the Lion himself, the dead man,” he proclaimed to a stunned congregation.

He said, “I am the strongest spiritual man in the world after the general TB Joshua. We are not many, we are just two. One has done his job, and when I die, no one will see my corpse, and I do not have much time here, and our mission here is to clear the doubt of Jesus Christ, and one mission, one God and one power,” he added.

Odumeje, or “The Indaboski Bahose,” is a controversial Nigerian pastor based in Onitsha, Anambra State.

He leads the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, a church known for dramatic deliverance sessions, theatrical preaching styles, and unconventional prophecies.

His latest prophecy, where he declared that no one will see his corpse after he dies, is not entirely out of character.

Odumeje is known for blending charismatic showmanship with bold spiritual claims. The self-styled “Indaboski” said his mission is not longevity but to prove the supremacy of Jesus Christ.

Yeye Mofin Of Lagos Is Dead

Yeye Mofin of Lagos and founder of the renowned Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, Leila Fowler, is dead.

Her death was confirmed on Sunday in a statement by the school, which she established in 1991 in honour of her late daughter.

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved founder, Chief (Mrs.) Leila Fowler, on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

​“Chief (Mrs.) Fowler was a true pioneer, an erudite lawyer, and a visionary educationalist who founded Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in 1991.

Her life was a testament to the power of empowering young women through education.

“Her guidance and motherly warmth built not just a school, but a community dedicated to excellence,” the statement partly read.

Born in Lagos on March 23, 1933, Fowler (née Moore) was educated at CMS Girls’ School in Lagos and later at Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha, where she obtained her Senior Cambridge Certificate in 1951.

She initially pursued a teaching career before training as a nurse at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. Her academic ambition later led her to law at Middle Temple, where she was called to the Bar in 1962, before returning to Nigeria to be called to the Nigerian Bar in 1963.

Fowler built a career in legal practice, specialising in insurance law and consultancy.

She also contributed to public life, serving as a councillor in the Lagos City Council from 1978 to 1980, and was actively involved with the Nigerian Bar Association, the Nigerian Red Cross, and the Corona Schools Trust Council.

Her passion for education culminated in the founding of Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, which has since become one of Nigeria’s leading all-girls schools, renowned for its culture of academic excellence and leadership training.

Fowler was widowed in 2015 after the death of her husband, Professor Vidal Fowler, a surgeon and respected scholar.

The school’s tribute described her as a devout Christian, lover of music, philanthropist and mentor who “will be deeply missed,” adding that “Her legacy of service, faith, and dedication will continue to inspire us all.”
