A Northern Youth forum under the aegis of ‘Arewa Youths Consultative Forum’ (AYCF) on Tuesday gave an award of excellence to Mr Lawan Yaya, the Bauchi State coordinator of National Directorate of Employment (NDE).

Mr Ali Magaji, the president of the forum, while presenting the award to the state coordinator, said the decision was made necessary after careful consultations with the stakeholders of the movement who found the NDE boss worthy of the accolade based on his meritorious services to the youths in the state.

“After all consultations during our national executives and state coordinators meeting held in Kaduna, we concluded that we are going to nominate three people, one from each geopolitical zone of the northern region of Nigeria.

“This includes the Northeast, Northwest and North Central in order to award them based on their public services.

“We also monitored NDE Bauchi based on their performance, capabilities and integral works, so we nominated the coordinator to award him based on his public services especially towards engaging the youths to become employers of labour.

“The NDE Bauchi has worked tirelessly and relentlessly by producing something productive to the youth by taking them away from roaming around the streets without having something to do,” he said.

Magaji further appreciated the NDE boss for all he has been doing, adding that wherever youths are engaged, such a community experienced monumental development and where they are kept idle, such a community would not develop.

In his response, the state coordinator of NDE, dedicated the award to the Director General (D-G) of NDE, Mr Nasir Argungu, whom he said has made the agency more relevant and effective over the years.

“This award has been dedicated to the Director General of the NDE,Dr Nasir Argungu because before now, wherever you go and introduce yourself as a staff of NDE, people used to be surprised and asked if such an agency still exist.

“However, with the coming of the D-G, he has turned everything around and without introducing yourselves, people know that NDE exists and that the agency is working. That’s why we dedicated this award to him,” Yaya said.
