49 Boko Haram Terrorists From Sambisa Surrender

Two Notorious Commanders of Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, terrorist group (Boko Haram), Ba’a Usman (Munzir) and Alhaji Ari,(Nakib) have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai.

They surrendered with 47 other members of the terrorist group after coming out of Sambisa Forest following intensive air and ground assault on terrorist’s enclaves by troops of operation Hadin Kai.

Military sources, disclosed that the terrorists surrendered to the Troops of 25 Task Force Brigade Damboa on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the insurgents came out from Sambisa forest, where they have been hiding and waging campaign of terror.

It would be recalled that no fewer than 90,000 insurgents comprising combatants and non-combatants and their families have so far surrendered to the Nigerian Troops.

The sources said the sustained onslaughts on the insurgents under the kinetic and non-kinetic approaches had led to the mass surrender.

Meanwhile, the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army on Sunday concluded the training of 40 security guards to strengthen security in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) the division, Maj.-Gen. Shauib Waidi, said that the measure was to close security gaps in the camp.

“This camp has close to 30,000 occupants; allot of things have been happening where Boko Haram were infiltrating into the camp.

“We felt we needed to have a home grown security response like this one that was specifically created to secure the camp,” he said.

The GOC, represented by Lt. Col. Agbo Solomon, Commander, 195 Battalion, said that the security guards had undergone intensive training on small arms handling with emphasis on safety and protection.

He added that they were trained in unarmed combat, how to disarm adversaries during attacks, and defend themselves using combinations of physical combat techniques.

“They are equally trained on intelligence gathering; how to process and relay information with their own inputs using the appropriate channels.

“They have also been trained on how to respond to fire incidents which is recurring every year in this camp that is housing about 30,000 persons,” he added.

Wudil explained that the initiative would cement civil-military relations and encourage the host community to be actively involved in securing their area.

The GOC encouraged the IDPs to be security conscious and report any suspected movement or strange activities that would breach the peace to security agencies.

In his remarks, Borno Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Seina Buba, lauded the efforts of the Army and Civilian JTF towards restoring lasting peace in the state.

Buba said that the initiative would be replicated in other camps across the state to ensure more protection for the IDPs.

He said the state government was working to close all IDPs camps in the state, so that people would return to their respective communities.

Insecurity: Police Arrest 53-year-old Bulletproof Producer In Katsina

A 53-year-old man, who produces bulletproof charms for terrorists and criminals in Katsina State, is now helping the police with more information on his activities.

SP Gambo Isah, the State PPRO confirmed to newsmen that the suspect resides on Maiduguri Road in Sabuwa Local Government Area in the State.

He added that on Saturday, 26th November, 2022, following a tip-off, the suspect was apprehended by the police in Katsina.

The PPRO further explained that the bulletproof charm is sold to terrorists and other criminals in Zamfara, Kaduna and Katsina States for N60,000 per piece.

He added that the suspect was arrested with four bulletproof charms enveloped in jackets.

The suspect, according to Isah, also confessed that he offered prayers regularly for bandits for successful operations, against being arrested or harmed by security agents.

Airstrike Kills ISWAP Commander In Lake Chad Region

A top commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province, Muhammad Malik, has been reportedly killed by men of the Air Task Force in the Lake Chad region.

Malik died on November 29 following the fatal injuries he sustained during an airstrike by the task force, The Cable quoted Zagazola Makama, a publication focused the region, as saying.

Malik was a member of the Shura Council in Marte before going for a course in ISIS-sponsored Computer Engineering and improvised explosive device making in Somalia.

He reportedly established IED training units where fighters were trained in deploying explosives during attacks on his return.

Recently, there have been records of successes in the Nigerian military’s campaign against insurgency and terrorism in the Lake Chad region and some northern states.

The Nigerian troops, in a coordinated intelligence-led aerial and ground operation and targeting the location of the terrorists in the Sabon Tumbun area of Lake Chad on November 24, killed scores of fighters.

Herbalist Testing Gunshot Charm Shoots Client Dead

The Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday said it had arrested a 23-year-old native doctor, Odoh Emmanuel, for allegedly shooting and killing his client, Onunze Benedict, while testing gunshot charms at his shrine in the Umuaram area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement, said 16 other suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from conspiracy, armed robbery, abduction, unlawful possession of firearms among others.

According to the statement, Emmanuel, after committing the crime, was arrested after the case was reported to the Isi-Uzo Police Division.

Ndukwe said the suspect, during interrogation, confessed to have used a locally-fabricated single-barrelled gun to shoot and kill Benedict at his shrine in Umuaram community, while testing the gunshot protection charm he had prepared for him.

“The gun has been recovered, while further investigation is ongoing at the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department Enugu,” the PPRO said.

Meanwhile, Ndukwe said the 16 other suspects were arrested for offences of conspiracy, armed robbery, car snatching, abduction and unlawful possession of firearms.

He added that two firearms, one live cartridge, three mock guns, a Sino truck loaded with 789 bags of cement, mobile phones, ATM Cards, pieces of wrappers, clothes and other incriminating exhibits, were recovered from them.

Ndukwe also confirmed the arrest of the following male suspects, Everest Ayokalam, 48, Anayo Akakem, 33, Iwuanyanwu Kelechi, 32, Uchenna Iwuoha, aka Uchewinde, 47, and Gospel Nnorom 32, for involving in a case of conspiracy, armed robbery, abduction and attempted murder.
