Edo Civil Society Organisations (EDOCSO) has dissolved the Comrade Curtis Ogbebor-led two-man Interim Leadership of the organisations, Info Daily can authoritatively report.
This was a resolution reached in a meeting held on Tuesday in Benin by The Extended Council (TEC), which is made up of the heads of the thirteen (13) affiliate groups that formed the coalition called EDOCSO.
In the resolution signed by heads of the 13 affiliate groups, the heads passed a vote of no confidence on the Interim Leadership, sighting abuse of office, failure to summon a General Assembly meeting line with the agreed date
with members of TEC expectedly to hold on the 17th of October, 2020.
Other offences committed by the Ogbebor-led Interim leadership, according to the TEC, include “flagrant abuse of interim position granted Curtis Ogbebor in promoting the ENDSARS campaign against the approval of TEC.
“The abrupt abandonment of the meeting midway by Curtis Ogbebor without introduction and deliberation of General Assembly meeting date.
“Deliberate attempt to hold on to Interim office in order to further stall the activities of the coalition,” part of the resolution reads.
The heads of the affiliate groups thereafter set up a new Interim Leadership after nomination by members, and Comrade Bishop Osadolor Ochei emerged as the new chairman while Comrade Omoruyi Egharevba emerged as Secretary.
Recall, the Ogbebor-led two-man Interim Leadership was set up October 6 by the TEC with the sole responsibility of conducting election after the expiration of the executive council.
The out gone executive council could not conduct election due to the period of the Coronavirus pandemic which prohibits the gathering of persons above 20.
Another factor was that, the election period of organizations fell within the Edo State governorship election which made it practically impossible.
