Hoodlums Vandalise Police Station, Bank Over Scarcity Of Naira Notes, Petrol In Ibadan [VIDEO]

Hoodlums, on Friday, vandalised a police station in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

According to DAILY POST, a Wema Bank branch opposite the police station was also vandalised.

The police station, located at Agodi Gate area, was vandalised during a protest in Ibadan.

Recall  that some angry Nigerians protested the ongoing scarcity of new naira notes and petrol.

Some of the areas where protests were staged included Agodi Gate, Idi Ape and Iwo Road.

There were also pockets of protests in areas like Olodo, Monatan and Iyana Church.

DAILY POST learnt from multiple sources that hoodlums took advantage of the protests to vandalise the police station and the bank at Agodi Gate.

Again, Terrorists Storm Kaduna In Fresh Attack, Abduct 87

Terrorists abducted no fewer than 87 women, children, and others in a fresh attack on the Kajuru Station community in Kaduna State on Sunday night.

The community has been thrown into confusion and fear. Some residents were seen today, Monday, relocating due to fear of further attacks.

Kajuru has suffered several attacks in recent times, and some locals are still in captivity.

Speaking to journalists, an official of the Kaduna Kajuru-Station Youths, Harisu Dari, said the terrorists attacked at about 10 p.m. on Sunday.

He said they broke into some shops to steal food and other provisions.

According to Dari, “Two days ago, 15 women and a man were abducted in the Dogon-Noma community of Kajuru.

“For now, there is no contact yet with the 87 persons abducted on Sunday night.

“As of the time I visited the community this morning, security operatives have not been drafted to help restore the confidence of the villagers.

“The villagers are traumatised by the sad development. The government needs to re-strategise in tackling these terrorists,” Dari said.

Kaduna attacks

Kaduna has become a huge scene of kidnappings of recent.

On Thursday, March 7, the bandits invaded LEA Primary School, Kuriga, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The terrorists shot one of the pupils and escaped into the bush with over 200 others. Among the victims were some secondary school students, and staff members.

Kidnappers of the Kaduna schoolchildren later contacted a spokesman for the families of the hostages. They demanded N1 billion for the students’ release.

Meanwhile, last Friday, Kaduna Police Command claimed it arrested a 35-year-old man (name withheld), over alleged kidnapping in the state.

The Police also said they recovered arms and ammunition in a raid conducted at the suspects’ residence of the suspect.

What they recovered, Police said, were a fabricated cartridge revolver rifle, a fabricated pistol, two Dane guns, six live cartridges, one discharge GPRG ammunition, seven discharge cartridges, and a blood-stained cutlass.

Army Recovers Mutilated Corpses Of Officers In Delta

Alleged Mutilated bodies of the Commanding officer , Majors and some of the soldiers have been found floating in the river in Okuoma community in Ughelli south local government area.

Community sources told Vanguard that the bowels of some of the officers were ripped open by their killers.

It was speculated that the military would have moved the corpses out of the town to the morgue.

“The military men on ground would have moved the corpses to their morgue either in Bayelsa or Warri.”

The killing of 16 soldiers in the community last week had continued to generate tension across Ughelli and other parts of the state.

According to VANGUARD, the military moved in heavy artillery weapons into the community through Bomadi local government area on Sunday and they also mounted heavy presence in every area.

The number of buildings so far razed down could not be confirmed but some locals told the Vanguard that several houses had been burnt.

”Our properties have been burnt down. Painfully, occupants of these houses have no hand in the killings.

“We appeal to the military to do thorough intelligence gathering so they can fish out those involved.

“Leveling the entire community is not the best option after all. The community is not at war with the federal government “.

Some persons who spoke to the government under condition of anonymity wondered why the soldiers did not invite those they allegedly came to see in the community to their base for the peace talk rather than come to the community in such numbers.

”I have been wondering why the soldiers did not invite the parties they came to see for the peace talk to their base rather than come to the area in such numbers.

”I have been following all the stories in the media. Well ! They knew why they chose that approach. “

Edo PDP Chairman Abducted At Gunpoint

The Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi has been kidnapped by a gang of gunmen near his house in the Government Reserved Area of the Edo State capital.

A close source disclosed that Dr. Aziegbemi, a former member of the House of Representatives, was said to have been trailed by his abductors who rode in two Toyota Corolla cars.

The source explained that the gunmen over took his sports utility vehicle at a speed break as it slowed down along Osaro Street, off Country Home Road close to his house at about 11 on Friday night.

Aziegbemi, who is said not to have police protection was on his way home after a meeting in Government House.

when he was abducted by the gunmen who trailed him.

The Edo PDP chairman’s driver wailed: “We left Government House and were on our way home at about 11 pm when I suddenly noticed a car trailing us so I decided to take another diversion. We never knew they were kidnappers.

“A few minutes later, the same cars appeared behind us at a speed breaker point and blocked our car in the front and immediately the gunmen pointing guns at us ordered our chairman to entered their car and took him away.”

The gunmen were said to have abandoned Aziegbemi’s car along Sapele Road and took him away in their own cars.

As at the time of filing this report, some top government officials and security agencies were sighted at the spot where the Edo PDP boss was kidnapped.

Contacted, Edo State Police spokesman, Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the incident but refused to give details.

Nwabuzor, a superintendent of police added: “That is confirmed. It is in the jurisdiction of New Etete Police Division, also known as Godwin Abbe Police Station, that is where it happened.

“The Commissioner of Police has given marching orders to the tactical teams of the operatives to go after the hoodlums. All hands are on deck and by the grace of God, we will be able to rescue him unhurt.”
