Nigeria’s Democracy Ruse, Scam – Anglican Bishop

The Anglican Bishop of Calabar Diocese, Prof Nneoyi Egbe, has described Nigeria’s democracy as a ruse and a big scam.

He made the description in a statement in Calabar, saying it is his conclusion about the state of affairs in the country.

He said one area of major concern is the insincerity of the political class as evidenced in their refusal to pass the electoral offences bill.

“No one would believe that up till today, this bill would still be in the drawers of politicians. It is obvious that they don’t want it passed.

“That’s the only way to guarantee their safety in displaying the lack of commitment to fighting the kind of corruption bedeviling the country.”

Egbe called for immediate passage of the bill so as to give stronger credibility to the forthcoming elections.

According to him, the political gladiators seem not to have learnt any lessons.

“The truth which we must address in Nigeria is he lack of sincerity and honesty in every fabric of our national existence.”

He contended that the democratic process was built on the wrong foundation.

He advised that as the country drives steadily towards another season of choosing leaders, all must do so sincerely in order to elect sincere leaders who will unite and work for love and peace.

The 100th National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party has reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s national secretary.

Speaking to journalists after the NEC meeting held in Abuja on Monday, the PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, announced that Anyanwu has been officially reinstated.

Damagum further revealed that the 101st NEC meeting has been scheduled for July 23 to finalise arrangements for the upcoming national convention.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, will hold its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting on 24th July, 2025.

Deputy National Secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter, disclosed this after Monday’s National Working Committee, NWC, meeting.

DAILY POST reports that Umar Ganduje on Friday resigned as the party’s chairman and in his place, Ali Dalori was appointed in acting capacity.

Following the resignation of former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Deputy Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, is now presiding over his first National Working Committee meeting in his capacity as Acting National Chairman.

Dalori, along with several NWC members, is currently meeting at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

The Monday meeting is expected to review recent developments within the party and formulate an official position.

Present at the ongoing meeting are the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, and other key party officials.
