NSF: Team Bayelsa Qualifies In Six Sports Out Of Ten In Zonal Elimination

Team Bayelsa has qualified to participate in five team sports at the National Sports Festival billed to hold in Ogun State May this year.
Team Bayelsa arrived Benin City on Sunday with a total of 218 contingent comprising athletes and officials for the zonal elimination games.
Team Bayelsa qualified in Basketball (female), Volleyball (male), Abula (male) and (female), Beach Volleyball (male) and Hockey (female).
The team, however, failed to qualify in Football (male) and (female), (Handball), Abula mixed double as well as the male Hockey team.
Assessing the performance of the athletes, Director of Sports, Bayelsa State Sports Council, Sir Braveman Wodi, described the outing as a fair performance, stating that few of the games were lost by default.
According to him, Bayelsa qualified in six events out of the ten in the zonal elimination, describing it as the toughest in the country.

He noted that preparation for the National Sports Festival has already commenced having qualified in the zone.
According to Wodi, they are working round the clock to ensure that every team is fortified before the games, pointing out that he is optimistic that the athletes would give Bayelsa good representation at the fiesta.
He hinted that team Bayelsa would soon embark on camping immediately after the maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
He expressed Team Bayelsa’s readiness for the National Sports Festival.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé has won the 2025 Ballon d’Or, claiming football’s most prestigious individual prize at the ceremony held in Paris on Monday night.
The French international was rewarded for an outstanding 2024/25 season in which he scored 35 goals and provided 16 assists across all competitions.
